CNN pre-game has a panel of independent voters.

There's a striking bald dude sitting there with ten or twelve pieces of metal hanging out of his face.

This is gonna be good.

VeeJay
10/7/2008, 07:58 PM
McCain's campaign is supposedly in attack mode. I wonder if he can remember the attack points?

VeeJay
10/7/2008, 07:59 PM
David Gergen on CNN just declared that McCain lost the debate, and Palin lost her debate. I hadn't heard that until CNN enlightened me.

VeeJay
10/7/2008, 07:59 PM
Gergen sort of looks like Chris Elliot sitting there.

Hey Rogue. Remember when Dennis Miller used to comment during Clinton's State of the Union speeches on Comedy Central?

I do miss those events.

What's with the red carpet....is this thing rigged? ;)

Small audience...

What's those three marks on Brokaw's left side of his forehead?

Mrs. Brokaw nail with with a wing chair or something?

Game.

VeeJay

I'd be asking them if they're gonna do their Christmas shopping at Wal-Mart this year, what with the economy and all.

Penguin
10/7/2008, 08:06 PM
It would be more entertaining if the candidates were on roller skates and the audience were throwing dodgeballs at them.

VeeJay
10/7/2008, 08:06 PM
McCain's going Gore on the questioner!

Rogue

Rate things are going you may have to amend that to Dollar General.

VeeJay

McCain's talking equalizing home values. I may vote for him after all, considering my FL home value is $240,000 less than it was two years ago.

Rogue

Washington...Wall Street...Main Street.

McCain is making the same mistake they coached Palin into.
Keep bringing up the fact that it was impulsive and looney to suspend his campaign.

"Obama and his cronies..."

VeeJay
10/7/2008, 08:13 PM
...and our next question is from comedian Steve Martin...

McCain jabs, Obama parries and thrusts.

"I've gotta correct some of Senator McCain's history, not surprisingly."

VeeJay

Does it really matter about homeowners when there are armed al Qaeda's roaming the streets making sure everybuddy is tending to their poppy plants and reading the Koran?

I kid, I kid!!!

Rogue
10/7/2008, 08:18 PM
Brokaw asks a closed-ended question and Obama answers simply..."no."
This was a softball right over the center of the plate.
Obama hit a double.

McCain's talking equalizing home values. I may vote for him after all, considering my FL home value is $240,000 less than it was two years ago.

Yeah, equalize home values to unaffordable levels so more and more people will get into financial trouble. Sounds like a plan for a future disaster to me.

BTW, if you didn't buy two years ago then I'll say easy come easy go. If you did I'm sorry but housing prices were massively overvalued and unsustainable and no amount of government intervention is going to prop them up and any attempt to do so will just create a bigger and bigger problem.

Sounds like you and Lex Holmes need to go have a chat, 'cause that wasn't in any section of ECON 1113 he taught.

Decreasing taxes can have the counterintuitive effect of increasing revenue under certain conditions. Cutting taxes alone is not a sufficient condition for increased revenue.

Unless you'd like to argue that cutting the effective tax rate to 0% would somehow increase government revenue.

Tell that to the women and children being beaten and abused by the jerks.

Point taken man. You realize I've intervened with many many addicts and abuse victims, right? There aren't easy answers and I doubt that even a hard answer includes denying healthcare to the addicts. I haven't seen the penal system fare very well in the "War on Drugs."

The slippery slope here leads to impossible questions like, "if an addict develops breast cancer, do you deny her healthcare?"

JM is viewed as a politician of a bygone era. Longtime Washington insider whose views are outdated as a career politician. Biden is too, but he's on the other team.

Obama is a very good communicator and has ideas and solutions that appeal to a segment of the electorate that hangs on to his every word. The appeal is so strong that the attachments to Ayers and Wright are insignificant, or just not worth equating its value to the candidate.

We're going into a new era - Hillary Clinton was the first to see that when she was knocked off the pedestal.
