View Full Version : No more "Shootout" in the Red River Shootout?

I just heard that the game is no longer (officially) being called the Red River Shootout.

Apparently, the official name is Red River Rivalry Game.

I haven't looked anywhere to validate this, so if you know whether or not it's true...shed some light.

When I was younger, it was the Red River War.

Maybe they'll change the name to the Red River Football Competition. Or does the word "competition" cross the line?

The only good thing about the Rivalry moniker is hearing the PA announcer have to say it every timeout when recognizing a sponsor. Quite the tongue twister.

I don't think Lou Holtz or Barney Frank could do it....

It's the OU/Texas game.

Doesn't need a name.

About 8 months ago, I was seeing a girl that was a Texas A&M grad. She would always call it the texas/OU game. Funny how strange that sounded to me.

Let's come up with our own slogan...as well as some ideas for a new logo.

I heard Sam say in his interview that Stoops said that the team with the most rushing yards in the game has won the game every time in this decade. Or something like that.
