Last month, I stated I would call this election based on polling one month out.

Today, BHO leads McCain by around 3 points. That's less than Kerry led W at this point in 2004.

Objectively speaking, I don't think BHO is going to make it. The early voting is done in Ohio and the turn-out was far less than predicted. Only about 3000. This was the voting in Ohio the Pubs feared was most prone for shenanigans.

What, you say, would have been enough for me to call it the other way? A better than ten point lead for BHO this week.

Oh, to be sure, it'll be close, but given the overall mood of the country, the bail-out/econ-0-mess, the war, and the incumbent president's unpopularity, one would think this should be all BHO by a landslide. It ain't. Not this week anyway, and by now, folks have pretty much made up their minds. IMHO, that spells doom for the freshman Senator from Illinois by way of Honolulu.

BHO has a lock on the youth vote, but JSM has the oldsters. And oldsters actually follow-thru, get off the couch and go vote on Election Day.

Now, if some earth-shattering scandalous revelation were to come to light now about JSM, that could flip it, but given the guy has been in public life for over forty years, that is very unlikely. Or, JSM could throw-up on himself during tonights debate spectacle. Again, unlikely.

In short, Pubs hold on to the White House in '08.

Oh, and BTW, we're gonna Beat Texas too.

You don't know me very well if you don't think I can be objective about who's gonna win at this point. Wanting JSM to win and being realistic about it are two entirely different kettles of crappie. Besides, it doesn't really matter here in the Sooner State because BHO, nor any other Donk, could possibly carry here in the foreseeable future.

You must step back and look at the whole enchilada. Srsly.

A moderate Donk, like HRC, or any Donk governor could have walked away with this thing. This year was literally, the Perfect Storm year for the Donks to sail to victory. But where are they at? Less than a five point lead.

The simple fact of the matter is, BHO scares middle-aged and older people. Some of it is probably fair, some if it isn't. And they vote 3-1 more frequently than the under 30 set.

Once again Homey swoops in with his statistics manipulated to make his case seem plausible. He uses 3% as BHO's lead when in fact the poll of polls shows a different number:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html

It shows 5.3% (beyond the margin of error).

Homey also fails to post the state by state polls:

which show again a bit of a different story than the one Homey tries to spin.

A popular restaurant chain here suddenly went under because it couldn't get short term credit because banks are nervous about loaning to small businesses. These are the canaries in the coal mine.

Everyone keeps talking about Ohio being the state that decides the election. As far as I'm concerned, it'll be Colorado that swings it. And since Obama has a lead there...

According to most electoral maps I'm seeing right now, the tossups are: Missouri, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Nevada, and Minnesota. Based on current polling numbers, McCain needs to win all six to win. Unless something game-changing occurs or there's significant methodological errors in the polling, of course.

Currently McCain has a slim lead in Missouri and Obama has a lead in the rest. In fact, Pollster.com calls both Ohio and Florida as Obama leans right now, removing them from the toss-up category. Fivethirtyeight.com does some interesting things with statistical modeling and regression analysis to determine the election if it were held today and they're claiming that the average number of electoral votes won by Obama in their simulations is 343.

GrapevineSooner

No matter what, the next President will NOT be George W. Bush.

We haven't won a National Championship since Bush has been President. The last one we won, Clinton was still President. Bush has been a Sooner curse. I'm convinced. He's a Longwhorn by proxy, too. And look at the facts: The Longwhorns won a NC more recently than we did. THAT'S NOT HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE!!!!

So no matter what, Bush being out of office will remove the bad NC mojo we've had in the last two games we played in.

I was watching the 700 Club last week. I really didn't think about it too much, but Pat Robertson said that McCain pulling out of Michigan reeks of desperation. He said he didn't think they were in that much trouble until the pullout. I don't remember this, but he said that when Dukakis pulled out of Florida in 1992, that was the beginning of the death throes of his campaign. This is eerily similar (apparently).

When I heard that from one of McCain's staunchest supporters, well, I was shocked. I didn't know things were that bad, either.

Dean, I'm sure a lot of things will happen between now and then and I'm in no way claiming that this thing is over. All indicators are pointing towards an Obama presidency right now, though. It could all change overnight-heck, McCain feels very confident about the town-hall format and he may do well enough to reverse the trendlines. Wouldn't surprise me at all for Obama's numbers to come down to the 3% figure Homey's cited in the next week or so.

Oh, yeah. I think it's pretty informative. Sometimes he tries to slant things a little too much during the current events portion, but I like it.

It's about the only religious show that intensely prays with/for the audience without asking for a donation first. And when they do ask for a donation (and it's not related to prayer), they tell you exactly where it is going and they only ask for $20/month.

About 70% of the programs on TBN are pretty shady. My favorite is "Marilyn and Sarah." They don't beat around the bush. The ask for $200 a pop and in return they will pray that a person that you like will fall in love with you. Lol! Is this high school? :D

I agree that a lot of Christians are pretty naive and there are a ton of shows that try to take advantage of them. TBN should be ashamed of some of the shows they have.

I would like to remind that every time Mooseilini opens her yap, Obama cultists open their wallets. A war of attrition is a bad prospect for McCain on the money front.

I mean, McCain is having trouble winning Indiana, that's INDIANA! That state has been more reliably GOP than our great state! He is also in trouble in NC. That's NC, the Home of the 82nd Airborne and Camp Lejeune.! Like I have said, Palin was a mistake on par with Thomas Eagleton for the DEMs in 1972 (a guy who was a mental health patient)...Him having trouble in those states would have been equal to BOH having trouble in MASS or NY!

Oh, and BTW, we're gonna Beat Texas too.

give me a break 3 points?

The country remains pretty much evenly split on ideological lines. Best of luck with that. It ain't easy governing under those circumstances.

That said, all the best to BHO. I hope he does well, just go easy on the wealth redistribution. kplzthx. It'll be interesting to see if Fabian socialism, now on the runway cleared for take-off, flies in the US of A.

Let's go to Vegas. We can play roulette. Every time you bet black, I'll bet red.

Here's an idea. You start a thread calling it for BHO. Then, we'll see who was right on November 4th. And it'll be me.

LMAO. Fail.

I'm just thankful Homey didn't win the bet with Doleo from the tailgate. I, for one, do not want to see Doleo parading around in a bikini.

I saw the TV commercial for it last night. I laughed. I cried.

Sure, laugh now, but years from now when one is appraised on the antique road show for thousands of dollars, who will be laughing?

Did the same company make the Robert E. Lee Confederate, Wizard of Oz and the Elvis plate?

I think I'm gonna get one for work. We all get together and break bread now and again and it might help throw a few of the gluttons off a bit and allow me seconds. :D
