View Full Version : Route from Tulsa to Dallas

This year will mark my first trip to OU/TX coming from Tulsa instead of OKC.

As such, my brother (OU-HSV) and I are interested in knowing the best/commonest route the hills and trees people use to get to Dallas.

Yahoo maps tells us to use Muskogee Tpk to US-69 to US-75.

What say you all?

if youre going to Dallas, take 75. If youre going to Ft Worth, I-44 to I-35S. That's always been what I took

do parts of 75 become 69 and then back to 75? that's what it looks like on the map.

why drive CRAZY
Because anymore it takes about as long to drive as it does to fly that kind of distance. You also don't have to mess with security or a rental car. I have grown to loathe flying, the only time that I choose it over driving is for much longer distances like Austin to NYC (JetBlue direct) this year...and unless you booked the flight a month ago, most of the fares are ridiculous.

When you get to Henryetta on 75, keep going south; 75 becomes the Indian Nation Turnpike, and you take it all the way 41 miles to the Atoka exit; after that it's a piece of cake to get to Dallas as you just stay on that road; been a while since i've been that way, but i do believe 69 and 75 merge there. If you see a Frito Lay truck Fri afternoon around Henryetta, wave :D

Oh, and the others are correct; 75 is a straight shot South from Tulsa so you do not want to take the Muskogee Turnpike as it would add miles to your journey

412 west to State 97, State 97 south to 51, 51 W to 99 S, 99 S to 33 E, 33 E to 48 S, 48 S to Bristow, stop and drink a beer, beer W to Langston, Langston Up to marching band, Marching Band SSW to Funky Beatz, Funky Beatz N to sheep sex.

I always take 69/75 to Dallas/Waco and back home. It's the most direct route. Some advice: GO THE F-ING SPEED LIMIT THROUGH SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA! Once you hit McAlester ride your freaking breaks like a 2 bit whore until you hit the Texas border. They will pull your *** over sure as hell!

69 just suddenly turns into 75 in Texas. You don't have to merge, exit, or anything else. It's just *poof* and all of a sudden you're on 75.

This is the fastest way for us when we go from Sapulpa back to Dallas.

Take US-75 south from Tulsa onto Indian Nation Turnpike. Go 41 miles on the turnpike and take exit 63B which is US-69 south. Go 86 miles on US-69 and watch your speed very carefully at every little town you come to. Speedtraps galore. After 86 miles on 69, keep going straight south on the 4-lane which is once again US-75 to Dallas.

Word Bro, as others have said 75 turns into a turnpike (of course). And 75 looks like a dead straight shot at our Hotel as well according to googlemaps and mapquest.
I'm ready, so hurry and get your azz down here so we can head to Dallas :D

Can i pick up this route 75 somewhere in Maine? If I leave this afternoon I could be in Dallas by Saturday, hell it's only 2290MilesToDallas.

I would need a guide service OleVet, if I can find Wister I'll pick you up. i wonder who's going to guide me the first 1800 miles though?

edit: I just calculated gas money for this and round trip would cost me $700 so i'm staying put!

I'm envious of a OU/TU road trip, brings back lots of Memories. Have a corny dog and several beers for me!

Easy fix to your problem...just fly Olevet up to Maine and he'll ride the whole trip with you, all the while chuggin his OVJ and hoping he tells you the correct turns

Well we're actually leaving from east Broken Arrow, so knowing that now, do you think taking the Muskogee to 69/75 south is the best route?
We'll be close to the Muskogee turnpike..and if we went to 75 in west Tulsa we'd end up driving across B.A. and Tulsa to get there.
