What previous Oklahoma team does this years Oklahoma team compare to?

What previous Texas team does this years Texas team compare to?

Well, unless you look at it from Texas' point of view in 2005. They were a lot better than us that year.

Nonetheless, I really don't see how Texas is going to stop our passing attack. I really hope we come out slinging it (as we have in the past against the horns) and just run when it catches them off guard. We don't have to try to establish the run. Texas is decent up front. Their weakness is pass defense so just expose it from the flip of the coin to the final gun.

And make somebody NOT named Colt McCoy beat you. I am not sure Texas has another offensive player that can carry them past a team as good as OU.

I'm gonna be a wreck this week. My employer is NOT going to be happy with my performance. Already distracted mentally...a round of golf first thing this morning didn't even help.

I meant on our side obviously, Im not seeing a 4 td victory and or anything like that but I could see us dominating the game

With their suspect pass D(#96 in the nation) how can we not put up at least 37 or 41? McCoy will be held in check by our de's who can contain better than any combo in the country and we can get pressure with our front 4, unlike many other teams. OU 41 ut 23 ut goes on to beat Mizzou next week in austin and makes this win look even better

How about this game changer? Oklahoma is ranked #1 in the nation in redzone offense going 19 for 19 (18 TD and 1 FG)
Converting redzone points into TDs is what wins games and not settling for field goals. That's my game changer, that is all for now.

Rushing offense:
OU 40
Texas 27
Passing offense:
OU 4
Texas 18
Total offense:
OU 5
Texas 12
Scoring offense:
OU 4
Texas 6
Advantage: Oklahoma. Our offense is the most explosive (but not necessarily as balanced as we thought) in the nation.

Rushing defense:
OU 18
Texas 3
Pass defense:
OU 15
Texas 96
Total defense:
OU 11
Texas 28
Scoring defense:
OU 15
Texas 4
Advantage: Oklahoma. The only thing that scares me on Texas's offense is Colt McCoy's legs. If Pat White/ Vince Young shows up, it could be a long night. If he has an average night on the ground and Texas's running game is still MIA, they will have to beat us in a shootout. Our defense and especially the secondary is much improved. But expect Texas's defense to disrupt Sam, get some pressure, and make some good tackles.

Net punting:
OU 102
Texas 5
Punt returns:
OU 98
Texas 77
Kickoff returns:
OU 15
Texas 33
Advantage: Texas. By a mile and a half. end of story.

Passing Efficiency:
OU 4
Texas 2
Advantage: Texas. If Texas wins, it is completely on McCoy's shoulders. I wouldn't be surprised to see DM or CB emerge as the game's star for OU--Sam doesn't have to do it all. Colt, on the other hand, does. Disadvantage for Texas, actually.

Pass Efficiency Defense:
OU 1
Texas 39
Advantage: Oklahoma. We've played some good running quarterbacks and some not too great passers. I have to believe the Cinci quarterback was the best passer we've faced. Jake Locker and Robert Griffin are great athletes though.

Fewest Penalties Per Game:
OU 83
Texas 76
Fewest Yards Penalized Per Game:
OU 100
Texas 87
Advantage: Texas. But expect our boys to be on their best behavior and well coached for this game.

Punt Return Yardage Defense:
OU 53
Texas 11
Kickoff Return Yardage Defense:
OU 104
Texas 93
Advantage: Texas. By a mile and a half. end of story.

Sacks:
OU 3
Texas 1
Tackles for Loss:
OU 3
Texas 17
Advantage: Oklahoma. Our defense is FAST and swarming.

Sacks Allowed:
OU 16
Texas 39
Tackles for Loss Allowed:
OU 38
Texas 53
Advantage: Oklahoma. Our o-line>yours!

3rd Down Conversion Percentage:
OU 15
Texas 10
4th Down Conversion Percentage:
OU 14
Texas 1
Advantage: Texas. Wow I wouldn't have guessed this one.

3rd Down Conversion Percentage Defense:
OU 8
Texas 23
4th Down Conversion Percentage Defense:
OU 30
Texas 24
Advantage: Push.

Time of Possession:
OU 46
Texas 24
Advantage: Push. We score fast, they take their time. If its a close game, I think it gives us an advantage because we can drive 80 and score a TD in a minute.

Redzone Offense:
OU 1
Texas 6
Advantage: Oklahoma. We score. Don't turn the ball over.

Redzone Defense:
OU 14
Texas 2
Advantage: Texas, I guess.

First Downs Offense:
OU 5
Texas 4
Advantage: Texas, I guess? Again, I don't really see it.

First Downs Defense:
OU 20
Texas 28
Advantage: Texas. This is getting boring. Wait, I'm done!

Surprisingly, Texas stacks up VERY well against us on paper.

1971 was a great year to be a Sooner until Thanksgiving. But still the OU/Nebraska "Game of the Century" was one of the best I've ever seen.
