Lost about $10k in my rollover IRA before I moved most to short term bonds last week; about another $5k in the 401(k). Sucks.

The glass is half full.
I have a loss over the past year, month, and week.
On the other hand, I'm buying low right now. Since I'm not taking my marbles and going home I figure I'll come out ahead. Besides, the little bit I invest would have just been spent on whoknowswhat by now.

Buying low! That's the one good thing out of this - I'm still putting money in at the same rate... if things come around, I could make out big time.

Well, about 30 pounds so far...

'snot nearly as bad as teh innerweb bubblez from years ago. I lost about 70% of my holdings in that one.

I looked about 5-6 months ago and vowed not to look again for at least a year. It's a long term investment, odds are it'll play itself out in 20+ years.

I lost everything, EVERYTHING, in the '97 Asian economic crisis. There was no recovery. Of course, my stock market holdings were largely warrants of financial institutions because I was a greedy bastard back then.

Please don't do that. Financial institutions sometimes go kerplunk.

That's why I invest in booze and hookers. Everybody wins!

I just actually started a career-thingy a year ago. I have no investments - I'm still clearing off my credit cards.

(I know, I know - I have no student loans, though.)

Don't know exactly but just have to ride it out. It is nice buying low though.

My 401K is down 20% this year. But no worries, I'm not retiring tomorrow.

25 percent.

21.4 percent on my 401k. I can't bring myself to type what that amounts to.

Look at it this way: it's not so much "lost", rather it's "compressed".

no? ...doesn't help me either :(

12%. It's not near as much as you guys of course as far as real money goes, but it's some for me. It's my retirement fund and all that.

Don't worry about it. Based on dollar-cost-averaging, it's actually much better for you for the market to tank at this point in your life.

down 24.4

But I am a LONG way out (21 years) so it really doesn't concern me. The next bull run should be fun though.

26.6%

i'm really ****ed because i didn't cash out my stock when it was at the 5 year high and just let it ride. That's where i lost most of mine is the fact it has a bunch of stock from my previous employeer (that's how they did their bonus contributions)
