Oklahoma wide receiver Manuel Johnson has been named the Big 12 Conference's Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Sooners' 35-10 win over then-nationally-ranked TCU last Saturday.
NORMAN, Okla. - "The senior from Gilmer, Texas, set a school record with 206 receiving yards eclipsing the previous mark of 190 set by Mark Clayton in the 2003 Texas game.
Johnson compiled his yardage on just five receptions, three of which went for long touchdowns. He scored on plays of 76, 55 and 63 yards to become only the second player in school history to log three touchdown plays of 55 or more yards in one game. The other player to do that was Antonio Perkins with three punt returns against UCLA in 2003.
Johnson was one of two Sooners to put up big numbers against TCU, which entered the game with the nation's top-ranked defense. QB Sam Bradford completed 19-of-34 passes for 411 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.
He came only the second player at Oklahoma to throw for 400 yards in a game. The other was his position coach, Josh Heupel, who did it twice.
The other Big 12 weekly honors went to Texas A&M's Trent Hunter on defense and Nebraska's Nate Swift on special"
