Oklahoma is No. 1 for the 96th time in the history of the AP poll, breaking a tie with Notre Dame for the most ever. The last time the Sooners were No. 1 was 2003, when they were atop the polls all season before losing the Big 12 title game to Kansas State.

2003 was the year the United States invaded Iraq.
The Florida Marlins won the World Series against the Yankees.
In November of 2003, Oklahoma won a controversial victory over Texas A&M. The score was 77-0.
President Bush made a surprise Thanksgiving visit to Iraq.
55% of Americans approved of the job President Bush was doing.
Movie goers were anticipating the release of The Lord of the Rings-The Return of the King on December 17.
The DaVinci Code was the number one book on the New York Times best seller list.
The Last Samurai was the number one movie at the box office.
The number one hit on Billboard was Stand Up by Ludacris featuring Shawnna.
The number one country hit was I Love This Bar by Toby Keith.
Jason White won the Heisman Trophy in 2003.
Saddam Hussein was captured by American troops a week after OU lost to K State.

Can you believe it has been that long since the Sooners were on top of the college football world?

And on a somewhat similar note... its been that long since we've been any good.Well we were pretty darn good in 2004,finished 12-0 and were Big 12 Champs. I STILL don't understand why we didn't go to a bowl game that season. :D
Damn Sooner hating media kept us home.

no but honestly you guys are going to bend us and our junior college defense over the pool table. I want our AD to petition the big 12 to let us have 12 guys on defense. A 4-4-4 would be nice. Its gonna get ugly.

That was the first and only day Hideaway ran their special where they'd give a discount in accordance with the margin of victory, IIRC.

77% off was fun :D

77-0. The greatest OU accomplishment in my eyes. I can't thank you guys enough for that treat lmao.

I mean, I was there for 77-0, and it was glorious... but to call it OU's greatest accomplishment...?

Let's just say this: Where are we going to make room for it in the trophy case?

Winning GAMES is something that they get pumped up about in Stagnantwater. In Norman, it's championships or bust, baby.
