Being a starter means a lot of things in Stoops's eyes. He wants obviously the best guys out there, but he pushes the "best guys" to be of solid character, leaders and keep their noses clean. Sometimes, you can't help it... if AD shows up late to class... you don't start Jacob Gutierrez ahead of him. Sort of a "what can you do?" situation.

If I had to guess, I'd say Simmons graded out well for the week's gameplan and Duke might have done something wrong, needed an attitude adjustment. You never know... it could have been something bad, or something as light as barking back at your coach that gets you benched until further notice.
