University. I figured I would start this so it was there when folks wandered over after the OU game. Bo wants the Huskers to try hard tonight.

Nope, two WAC teams, and MAC team prior.

VT sucking at passing is going to benefit Nebraska as that way we will only have to defend one thing medicorely.

you weren't getting that with Cosgrove.

royalfan5

you weren't getting that with Cosgrove.

that's true, but VT isn't a very good offense. OU and Mizzou will be able to name their score against us. Taylor already has more passing yards in the first have than he averaged on the season coming in. A guy than can pass will have a field day.

28-10 VT. If UNL doesn't get something going on offense this drive the roof could fall in because the defense is looking worn down.

Our defense isn't that good, and 9 point are directly special teams and defense related, and big PR gave them really good field position on the other TD.

this is not the place for it, but Watson has a rep here for making the simple things impossibly complex.

every year under Barnett about game 6 he had to "simplify the playbook".

The lack of DL depth is starting to show. I don't know if they have enough gas left to get the push needed. This is where Turner breaking his leg really hurts.

This is another area where the lack of depth on D is showing up. They were on the field way too much when offense didn't move the ball. That probably seals it. Suh is doing his best Ritchie Incognito now.

the loss at home sucks but NU needs to see this season for what it is. win 6 or 8 games and get back on track. still behind the curve with MU and KU and possibly CU...but, you got to steady the ship first.

the big deal is to beat teams of equal talent like KSU, CU in Lincoln, and whoever the south draw is that isn't OU or Texas. that's coaching.

I've said along that this is a 7-5 team. I think Mizzou at home, and Tech at Lubbock will be losses, then at ISU and home against Baylor should be wins. Loss at Norman, loss at home to KU, win in Manhattan, win at home vs CU. I wouldn't be shocked if we beat KU at home, or lost in Ames, or lost to CU at home.

Spot on with your thoughts, royal... We'll be 3-0 to 3-3 in a heartbeat, but like you said, NU is missing depth & that's their biggest downfall this year...

Good to see them fight for it 'till the end....

The difference, of course, is you have a good head coach now. That might make the difference between 3-3 and, say, 5-1. Pelini obviously will do what it takes to win (no quit in that game tonight), whereas Callyburger will do what it takes to not get embarrassed on the final scoreboard (which didn't work after awhile, tee hee). You might have some rough games this season, but hey, even Bammer had a rough season with it's first year under Nick Satan.

I really thought we were going to pull it out at the end. But, the pass defense is awful and to hang with Mizzou and Tech the offense is going to have to be ready for a full on track meet, and I just don't think they can consistently move the ball up and down all game long without cold snaps that let it get away. Pelini is going to have work on his poise(and the teams), because Lubbock would be a bad place for him to come unglued when Leach is firing away all game long.

Our athletic DB's lack football skills, and our db's with football skills lack athleticism. Without Turner, there just isn't enough pass rush to protect them.(and there may not have been with Turner.) No matter what the scheming, the talent level isn't there to be more than mediocre. Pelini will have to find defensive impact players, if UNL is to be a real factor again. There is enough offensive talent to be reasonably competent, but not enough to really carry. At least our place kicking and kickoffs are stellar.

I'm sorry, JPN, but we haven't forgotten him either, as evidenced by our "F'n Hillbillies" endearing title ever since around these here parts.

Since you're a farkin' guru, it might be fun to have "Ghost Coach" as the puppetmaster for Bo, esp the way he was chewing out the ref - a dignified, calm Ozzie, right now to an outraged Pelini :D
