So Nebraska became one of the last states to pass a safe haven law intending to let young parents drop off infants without legal reprecussions. However, Nebraska couldn't agree on the definition of an infant, so they just left it open to children up to 18. So people have been dropping their unruly teens off, and the case in the link, a guy dropped off his 9 children ages 1 to 17.

As GD II nears, this could become a good law.

Obviously, he carefully read the new law, and needed some time away from the kids. 9?!

Dropped off his 9 kids? http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/triage/2008/09/father-leaves-n.html

Dude must feel like he's hit the lottery! :D

The Omaha World-Herald reported that the man had a “history of unemployment, eviction notices and unpaid bills – and a psychologist’s determination that he lacked common sense.”I'm guessing the kids are probably better off in state care anyway.

It gets better: the law is stupid twice, first for super loose definition of children. Second for who can drop the kids off: the law says "guardian" which could hypothetically be extended to mean "babysitter." So if my sisters kids are pissing me off, I can just go drop the brats off at the nearest hospital.

Hmm. Actually, I think I like this law.

You may not be answerable to the law over that, but I bet you get an *** whupping from your mother if you do that.
