Punch a shorthorn fan in the face!

You can party on 6th/5th/4th Street. See the bats fly out of the caves. I think there is a mountain which has great views. There is a nice restaurant overlooking the lake.

One important thing to remember, this from a thread many moons ago...on the way back out of texass...be sure to stop at the state line, take a dump...and scream out obsenities about the horns and give the bird upon leaving.

Depends on where you're stayin.

If you don't mind a little drive, head out to Lake Travis and eat at The Oasis. Damn good sunset.

The Salt Lick's overrated IMO.

Plucker's is a good happy hour place.

You can party on 6th/5th/4th Street.
There is 6th Street, the Warehouse district and the Red River district. The Austin Chronicle (http://www.austinchronicle.com/) is the free weekly like the Gazette, it usually has the best and most complete listing of what is going on at the clubs.

See the bats fly out of the caves.
Austin is home to the largest urban bat colony, they live under the Congress Avenue Bridge, the best time to see them is September as they start migrating south in October and November. Austin 360: The Congress Avenue Bridge Bats (http://www.austin360.com/search/content/events/special/bats.html)

I think there is a mountain which has great views.
Mount Bonnell (http://www.austinexplorer.com/Hiking/HikeDetails.aspx?HikeID=481) is on the west side of Camp Mabry.

There is a nice restaurant overlooking the lake.
The Oasis on Lake Travis (http://www.oasis-austin.com/), they had a lightning fire there a year or two ago which burned many of the outdoor decks but they have rebuilt many of them and enlarged the restaurant.

There are plenty of places to eat downtown, let me know what you want and I can point out some of the better places.

Go to 6th Street and get absolutely trashed. Then, when you're wasted, yell "Boomer Sooner" really loud from a moving vehicle. I've down in twice and lived to tell the tale.

I'll probably get negged for this, but IMO, Austin is actually a really nice city. If it wasn't for UT and the f'ing traffic, I really wouldn't mind it if I had to live there.

Visit texass's trophy room and note how it's much smaller than the Switzer Center. That's what me and a few of my friends did, but we only spent about an hour in Austin coming from San Antonio (only an hour away).

Lid,

Strong martinis? Any martini (unless you drink those gay fruit ones) is of pretty much equal strength. Gin, dry vermouth, olives. I've been drinking dirty martinis lately with jalapeno and garlic stuffed olives/juice. Very good...

perhaps I equate strenght with dryness... I'm more a vodka martini person.. ice cold, maybe.. one drop of vermouth.

Try a blue cheese stuffed olive sometime. Very good in martinis... Or.. this recipe..

2 parts Grey Goose Citroen
1 part Bombay Blue Sapphire
1 part Lillet Blanc
Twist of lemon..

Most places don't have Lillet.. but if you can find it... You wil thank me!
