NEW QUESTION:

If you had a choice btwn winning 3 NC's in a row, and being mediocre the rest of the time, or winning a NC once every 10 years for 30 years, which would you take?

Spread the NCs out so that you don't turn into Minnesota.

If you think about it. 1 title every 10 years is really good.

We won three in a row, if the media doesn't steal it from us like they did in '77

77, 78, and 79.

I love the titles that OU has one, all seven of them. But this is a new era. It's the "BCS" era.

So far we have 1 title

LSU is leading with 2

16 years and counting since Bama was relevant. How sweet it is...

If we won three in a row then went mediocre, people would accuse us of cheating to get those. I've heard people say that about Florida basketball. They got two in a row and had one awesome recruiting class, but now they suck again. How did they get that brief success? Hmm...

In any event, every 10 is fine. It's about what we're doing now, but having fun just the same in non-title years... at least I'm having fun. I hope the rest of you are too :D

I do not want to hear about Bama having a title stolen from them. You need to remove that 1941 national title flag from the stadium.

This year has already been a blast, and I would be very, very happy if we won one every 10 years. There are a lot of top teams out there, and it would be impossible to keep winning it all all the time. :)

Here's a question that can only be pondered over alcohol.

I am Merlin... er, Merline, the wizardess of future telling through my backwards living... and such. Confusing story short, I know the future, d@mmit, so listen up:

If I were to tell you that OU's next championship would be in 2010 (yes, we're going by the "every 10 years thing"), would you be happy that we win another soon, or upset that you have to wait two more football seasons in order to have it?

Badj, you are a great poster, but that question exposes you as a lifelong Packers fan, and only recent convert to the Mighty Sooners.

Of course we would be extremely angry that we have to wait so long for another title, and we might even be tempted to go ahead and fire Bob Stoops as we would know that he wasn't good enough to win the next two years.

it would be nice to believe that, but Joakim Noah, Taurean Green, and Al Horford's parents are all independently wealthy by virtue of them all being former professional athletes. There would be no need for them to accept improper benefits. Kinda like the Bob & Matt Leinart situation.

I'm goin with three in a row. That's just glutonous and sick and would let me experience what it would have been like to live through the Bud (God rest his soul) streak. I'm takin 3 baby. Make it so.

Dude, it's a hypothetical... but yes, I am a lifelong Packers fan and only a recent convert to the mighty Sooners... what does that matter? The Packers have won more championships than the Sooners :D

So are you counting the ones from back when football had just invented the forward pass like the ags and people from Bama? 'Cause it looks to me like the Pack has only won 6 since WW2... ;)

1929, 1930, 1931, 1936, 1939, 1944, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1997

Unlike Alabama, (and unlike the NCAA, really), actual, sole championships are declared every year, thus teams have a more legitimate claim to championships from earlier years. No divided championships in the NFL. There's been a championship game since 1933 (before then, it was determined based on winning percentage overall) It isn't about having a championship if you have a good season or because the AP writers think you're champion --- there are no rankings.

Many posters on this board only recognize AP or Coaches`Poll-era National Championships. Like them, I only recognize Superbowl-era NFL championships.

All that leather helmet stuff doesn`t cut much mustard with me.

(Why am I in the mood to **** off Badger? Hmmmm.....)
