This one is hard. I think LSU wins, but you really can't tell, because they haven't played anyone better than Jenks. But Auburn.. could only manage 3 offensive points at Mississippi State? I know they're not horrible (cue S-E-C chant).. but did you see what Ga Tech did to them today in Atlanta? The Yellowjackets tore 'em apart 7 - 38. I just don't see the LSU defense giving up many points to a team that could not score a touchdown to save their lives last week. Then again, a lot of that was due to turnovers, which will not happen nearly as often at home for Auburn. I hate to pick against the home team,
so..
Auburn 31

I'm one of those geeks who watches the game inside the game. One thing that I've noticed is that all of the LSU DB's are at least 6-2" and faster than hell. They look like an All-Star team of DB's. Both teams have very good cover guys too. This game will be won/loss in the trenches or by a special teams goof/big play.

BTW, does Auburn ever blitz? I haven't seen them blitz one time and they still get to the QB at a decent rate. On the other hand, LSU seems to bring a LB or DB about 3/4 the time but always from a different spot on the field.

I'd love to see how OU would match up against either defense win or lose.

Auburn's D is starting to wear down. TBH (and I know Homey is going to rip me for this), but Auburn plays with a lot of emotion in big games like LSU and a lot of times that can hurt them at the end of the game.

Looks like Auburn's offense just isn't very good yet with the new offense. LSU's o-line is now wearing the Auburn defense down. Neither of these teams looks like national contenders to me. The other side of the EsecPN conference looks better with Florida & Georgia.

It's hard to tell because, honestly, its two different brands of football btwn the East and West. The West is more old school with smash mouth offenses (boring etc) and talented defenses. The East is all about flash and points. It's really hard to compare the two until they match up on the field.

To be honest, the SEC is just the same as the BIG XII. The difference? The SEC just scored a huge contract with ESPN, in other words we are now their nest egg.

IMO, you guys shouldnt be hating the SEC, but hating the BIG XII for not getting a big time deal done with a major media outlet. Sure you play 2:30 REGIONAL games on ABC, but considering the talent and tradition your conference has, that just dont cut it. You need to be on prime time, ESPN, ABC, CBS, NBC... SOMETHING.

The reason everyone thinks the SEC is better is because they SEE the SEC.

Is it REALLY top notch defense, though, when you're offenses are just crap? If the only offense capable of scoring points with regularity is Florida, then you don't have a true measuring stick until you face Florida. Lord knows the SEC wont' schedule games against real non-conference opponents for fear of tarnishing the "we beat each other up" image.

Not that the Big 12's schedule has been top-notch either, but we don't go pulling the "conference is too tough" excuse, either. Seriously, if you're conference is so damn good, why don't you go prove it? Why are you afraid to go to a ranked team's house and show the world how good/bad you really are?

Well Im not going to defend the SEC on this, but I will defend my school. We played FSU last year (and lost, ofcourse), Clemson this year (who I dont think is as bad as we made them look), and are opening with Virginia Tech next year... ALL at neutral sites. I like to see the other Big 12 schools do well out of conference because it helps OU in the polls just like it has for the SEC schools over the years. I do have to say that I rather enjoyed when Arkansas beat Texas here in Austin a few years ago, it was the only other school that I really considered but the much cheaper in-state tuition kept me at OU....and a Texas loss is still enticing most of the time.

BAMA is probably the one SEC school that has a very strong legacy. The others really didn't start getting good until they a) integrated, b) lowered admissions standards for athletes, c) paid coaches a gazillion dollars, etc.

If you do a little research, I think you'll find that, in addition to Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Auburn, and LSU ALL won NC's before forced integration in the South. I don't think any other major conference even comes close to that number of member schools being able to make that same claim...

My job as an Oklahoma Sooner fan is to support Oklahoma. I hate every other team the exact same. The only time I will cheer for another team is if it benefits Oklahoma, YOU SEC fans need to get off each others nuts.Well said. I couldn't care less about the other Big 12 teams, except when their winning helps the Sooners somehow. IOW, my second favorite team is my High School team, and tied with that is whichever NFL team has the most Sooners on it.

It's obviously been awhile since you watched the movie Deliverance, which I'm pretty sure took place in the South East.

Bottom line - most of the Big 12, I don't hate. UT, KSU, and OSU...I pretty much hate them at varying levels. MU is making a strong case for my hatred, too. Everyone else, I'm indifferent, and I root for them solely for the purpose of improving OU's SOS and overall perception. But just because I don't hate KU, NU, Baylor, etc. doesn't mean I'm willing to chant "Big 12, Big 12" when OKLAHOMA SOONERS win. It's BOOMER SOONER all the way. That's what's so LAME about the SEC chant.

Resident Bama fan makes a strong case for them not scheduling wusses, though my only question is - how many ROAD games? The funny thing is that I don't care if the SEC schedules high school teams or the local peewee league, just don't use the lame excuse that the SEC is so tough. Otherwise I'm going to call you out, asking why, if you're so tough, you're so scared to play good non-con teams.

Why not? After all, we had an unprecedented 5 teams in the top 10 this week. You dont get much tougher than that.

And if the Gayhawks didn't choke one off last week-- The big12 would probably have 5 in the top 10 this week... SEC & B12 will both have four come Monday.

Because you're basically calling yourselves a bunch of wusses. It's reverse trash talk. Unfortunately the morons that run the polls hear that crap on TV and think, "hmmm....that must mean they're very good". It doesn't mean garbage. It means you're too scared to schedule REAL competition outside your conference, especially on the road.

Again, I have nothing against the SEC, and they're certainly top 2 at least. But until you can put up wins on the road against top competition, I'll still call BS on SEC "dominance". I'd count the GA win over ASU in the list of good road wins, but for the time being ASU looks like a bottom feeder in the worst league in college football.

Nah worst league is the ACC easily. Oh wait that takes away Bama's quality win. ACC RULES!!!

What do you call Georgia beating Arizona St, and us beating Clemson? Maybe not the best OOC competition, but not chopped liver.
