Actually tied with Nebraska. The Cotton Bowl also made it in as #81. I don't understand how Autzen made it so high though.

I just saw this and thought the same thing.I thought Penn St entry was pretty funny...Because it's the largest non-racetrack stadium in the country. (And because where else can you get more than 100,000 people to watch an 81-year-old man in flood pants?)

How does Ratliff Stadium make this list at #55? There are dozens of better HS programs in Texas, more tradition-rich, with more history...and it's only on here because of a book nobody had ever heard of until the horribly inaccurate movie version came out starring everyone's favorite drunken Santa Claus.

The book was widely regarded as a classic in sports literature far before the movie came out. Just because you hadn't read the book didn't mean a lot of other people hadn't.

Apparently Autzen isn’t that hard to play in

Dude, 80's and 90's hs football at that stadium was unlike any other. It was your dream in high school to walk onto that field and beat Permian. And the book was a NYT bestseller, so I think people had heard of it. As far as high school stadiums in texas go, sure there are some now that are better than Ratliff, but back in the day that place was better than half of the colleges in the south.
