Should be a fun game, I am pulling for Colorado but laid down some money on WVU straight up to win.

If they wake up and play to thier talent level- I don't really see it being that close. However I think Colorado at home is better than ECU at home.

Does this game kickoff after 4:20 mountain time?

If so, the fans won't be much of a factor!

Actually, I think it should be a dang good game...I kind of hope Colorado helps the Big 12 recover from K-State's performance last night.

as a local informant, i have no idea what to expect of this game. Hawkins teams are flaky so far. they make a lot of mistakes and their offense is really confusing to watch. the playcalling leaves you scratching your head. they might break through and get the W but if i had to take a team straight up...i'd take WVU.

the town and campus are pretty fired up for this one though...

Smith kind of saved their bacon last week. from a CU perspective, this would be a great night for Scott to break out on the national stage. i'm not going, i have to teach at 9 on Friday (to a half empty room especially if they win, no doubt)...and i have some work to do to get caught up to write their exam for Monday. If i go to the game, i can't take Saturday off to have a beer and make nachos. For me: Sat>Thursday game.

i think the atmosphere is going to be crazy. WVU bringing about 4500 which is almost 10% of Folsom, that's a respectable #. they are everywhere on campus and around town.

Spread seems low. It's like WVU is getting downgraded for losing to ECU but Colorado isn't getting downgraded for having to come from behind late in the game to beat a 1AA team.

56 1/2

So with a spread of 3, this basically means a 30-27 final score. Seems a bit high to me.

Hawkins seems to make the most of oppurtunities, he's a players' coach and unlike a lot of coaches in today's game, he actually seems to enjoy where he's at, as in pride for the program and such. You didn't see that from :les: at OSU, :mack: at UNC or Saban... anywhere yet for that matter. He doesn't have the talent Stoops has in Norman, but he's everything Colorado needs to keep from becoming the Baylor of the North. I like the fight in that guy to be honest. Not to say we don't still have the best of the best IMO.

Would you look at that ESPN? Another BIG 12 team in the top 25. I guess the SEC's "dominant" number of teams (6) inside the AP top 25 is now tied straight up, eh?

1. Find out which coach the players and fans want.
2. Pick someone else.

Fiatil
9/18/2008, 11:16 PM
My friend is a mountaineer fan, and he was under suicide watch after the whole Rich Rod debacle. I told him I wasn't confident we were going to crush a coachless team in the fiesta bowl, because you can pretty easily play on raw emotion and passion in one big game after you lose your coach. I also noted that that didn't really work in the long term, and next season would probably be kind of sad.

I didn't know I would be so right.

goingoneight
9/18/2008, 11:23 PM
Uh... if Josh Heupel were in said Stewarts boots and he took the Sooners to victory straight out of a position coach role to interim HC role... the opinion on here would be very different.

WVU lost too much talent from recent years and the new staff is trying to do things that WVU's current players aren't well-suited for. None of their QBs or receivers were trained in a passing offense with the exception of an occasional bubble screen or wide-open guy when the opposition cheated up to stop their ground attack. The blame IMO is just as much on Pat White for not managing the clock in a 2-minute drill as it is on the coaching staff for trying to run a possession offense with no time to do so.

In reality, it sickens me to say this... but if WVU came into Norman like they came into Boulder tonight defensively, we'd have been the ones hanging 48 (or more). CU's defense played "bend-don't break" all night because of the quick exchanges under center and showcased that hustle is what tops "speed." CU muffed lots of oppurtunities better passing teams would have dominated WVU tonight.

King Crimson
9/18/2008, 11:31 PM
that looked like two 5-7 win teams playing a close game in which neither could keep from shooting themselves long enough to win.

CU, for all the bluster (you should hear my buddies talk like they beat USC), did not score an offensive point after about the 7 minute mark of the 1st quarter and only drove the field for a score once. but, now, the "O is clicking and back on track".
