I'll agree with ya there about the #1 pick. I hate USC with a passion but man that guy is scary good!

No Chase? I also don't agree with Tebow at 5; the guy will get killed in the NFL unless he learns to throw the ball better and not run as much

I don't agree with the Tebow pick either but it is what it is...The only thing I can say is they guy does have a strong arm, but I m sure the post season, if he declares, will show his weaknesses and he will drop....

I m sure Chase will end up drafted but most teams do take snaps under center in the NFL and most teams aren't in the market for a 5'10 qb no matter what they do in college

He could be worth a top 15 pick but it really depends on team needs on how high he goes...

I think he will be a high pick, but I can't go pushing the OU too hard, because everybody knows where my allegiance lies:D

Uh....

Now, how he translates to the NFL remains to be seen, especially in the light of Alex Smith being on the cusp of Bustville. People are going to wonder if it's Meyer's system or not, until he proves that opinion one way or the other. As for running too much, he's the victim of a similar situation as the one Locker is in. Their respective teams' best RB also happens to play QB (unless you want to count Harvin, who, to this point, gets hurt if you look at him wrong).

He'll be the top TE in the draft whenever he declares. My proclamation has nothing to do with OU allegiances either. Guys who are that big and fast are exceedingly rare. Vernon Davis was taken at 6 a few years ago by the 49ers, and Gresham is infinitely more skilled than that guy.

I m sure your opinion isn't based on allegiances, but in a panel, it would be taken as such no matter what...Winslow went 6 as well in 2004....

I m not doubting him being the first tight end off the board either..it just depends on as the NFL season goes who needs a pass catching TE....like this last season, turns out WR was not a team need to most teams, so the first one wasn't taken until the 2nd round..

And lots of guys love Pettigrew as well...

I don't see a healthy Granger being the #4 pick in the draft. Actually, that's almost laughable. How does a guy go from 2nd on our depth chart (OK, maybe it's hangover from last year's suspension) to #4 in all of college football?

No doubt he is a very solid player, but honestly, does anyone here see him as dominating and meriting that draft pick? Wasn't Glenn Dorsey the #4 pick last year? Tommie Harris was a dominating lineman (albeit playing a different role than DeMarcus) and were did he go - #14? sure run stoppers dont get the press that pass rush specialists get, and it's hard to look great when you are getting double teamed all day, but I contend that anyone in that role worthy of #4 overall would stand out more than DeMarcus has.

And if what I said above doesn't get me the wrath of some, what I say next will. I read a few comments questioning Loadholt's exclusion from the list. Like Granger, I see him as another solid player, and definately with an NFL body. But I have my doubts:

In the short time we've had Phil, he's had too many penalties. Some are of the mental variety (which can be learned to overcome) like false starts, but it's the physical ones like holding that are the bigger concern. It's easy to say don't commit penalties, but if they occur because you would otherwise get beat, then they were committed for the right reasons. Phil has struggled with speed pass rushers. Nobody stops the great ones, but at least at the college level you aren't getting a consistent diet of NFL caliber speed guys, and I just have to believe the NFL combine will revel limitations in Phil's footspeed that will limit his draft status. I could be wrong, lets see.

But both guys are definitely good enough to contribute to another National Championship for the Sooners.

There also wasn't any franchise type wide receivers in last years draft. It was one of the weakest drafts in recent memory for WR's actually.

No Manny,Walker,Cooper,Braxton,Bradford(he IS a 3rd year soph, which makes him eligible),English,DeMarco(same class as Sam)?

More importantly how many,if any ,Sooners leave early this year?I thought Kelly was the only one that would leave last year. That makes my opinion on this years class suspect as I don't see ANY early departures this season.

stoops the eternal pimp
9/19/2008, 04:30 PM
Walker is on the radar....Bradford was on our list at 21.....DeMarco is on our list somewhere...English really depends on his measureables at the end of the season should he decide to go...Manny is too small for that early of a pick..

100 players= 1st thru 3rd rounds so it doesnt mean they wont get picked....

Honestly Gresham is the only guy I would probably bank on leaving early..
