Cafe reopens a day after cook’s shooting death

(Oklahoma City, OK) -- A restaurant where a man was shot and killed execution-style yesterday was reopened this morning.A sign on the door Monday said the restaurant, at 1301 SW 59, would reopen at 6:30 a.m. today. Several customers visited the restaurant during the lunch hour and both the manager and owner of the Jimmy’s Round-Up Cafe were back at work.Only 24 hours before opening today, Alfredo Chavez, 29, was taken out of the restaurant by two gunmen and shot to death with a shotgun. Jimmy Collins, the owner of the restaurant, said Chavez was the target of the shooting and the incident was unrelated to his business.Chavez was the cook at the restaurant and had worked there for eight years, Collins said. He had two kids and his wife was pregnant with a third.Police have little information about the two gunmen. They are asking that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
