If anyone didn't catch SNL last night, Tina Fey did a great job as Sarah Palin. Amy Poehler reprised her role as Hillary Clinton. In the opening sketch they joined together in a hilarious plea to stop sexism in politics.

For years the political skits have been the only good part about SNL.

I was talking to my dad on the phone after the game and he told me to turn it over, he is pretty conservative and thought it was hilarious.

I love Amy Pohler's crazy laugh.

"You know, it reminds me of a joke we tell in alaska." "oh boy." "What's the difference--" "Lipstick" "--between a hockey mom--" "lipstick" "--and a pitbull?" "lipstick!" "...lipstick." "There you go."

It was hilarious. We tried to watch the rest of the show but...

I did watch one "performance" by the musical guest. People actually like/listen to that ****? GET OFF MY LAWN!

Athletes as a general rule tend to suck on SNL, that's part of why it's funny when they are on. You are laughing at them as much as with them. And they know they suck, they are in on the joke. Except for Michael Jordan. His Summer's Eve commercial was one of the funniest things SNL did in the 90s.

I think he did the affirmation skit as well with Stuart Smalley. Both were pretty funny.

Yeah, but the writing was a bajillion times better then. The whole MJ show was pretty funny, only a couple skits sucked.

There was just nothing funny in this show (post-Palin), or at least not in the first thirty minutes. :)

That's the thing. People back then were saying how much the writing sucked compared to shows in the 80s. And so on. Really, SNL has only truly sucked for a couple of seasons, 1980 and 1985 spring to mind. Couple years in the early-mid 90s too when Adam Sandler was carrying the entire show. Besides that it's always been a mixed bag of flashes of brilliance interspersed with "good" along with some "meh" too.

The Peyton Manning episode is one of the funniest episodes I have seen...The United Way commercial was duh awesome..

You are right though...it was the exception not the rule....I know they tried to do the same sketch with the corny coach with Phelps and it wasn't near as funny

I've been trying to find that United Way ad all morning. Effing NBC making everybody else take it down and then not having it on their own site. Losers.

But speaking of athletes, remember the suckitude of Nancy Kerrigan when she hosted? Blerrrgggh.

politics aside, I don't get the Tina Fey thing. she's kind of like Jeneane Garafolo, not that pretty, not that funny and not that smart.

You'd get it if you were hot for Janeane Garofalo.

That Quiz Show skit and the one with the ugly kids ranked right up there with Goat Boy as far as suckitude.

I ended up falling asleep around the time that skit came on, then I woke up for Weekend Update. Was there another political skit too?

When it gets closer to the election they will show all of their best political skits.

The first ones I remember were the Bush/Dukakis mockmercials. "Vote for Bush. He's taller."

Disagree, but that's fair since it's your opinion.

not that funnyREALLY disagree, but that's fair since it's your opinion.

You are completely and utterly wrong on this one.

SNL has some good cast members now, but for some reasons it was heavy on Will Forte and the new guy and girl. The new guy doing the waiter skit was the unfunniest thing in years.

More Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig...less other people.

The Maestro

Oh, and Amy P. doing Phelps mom was pretty good stuff. I also liked in the monologue the "My First Meth Lab" deal with Phelps picture on the back. Especially when the guy said, "Pay you?"

Jason Sudeikis may be the most underutilized member of the cast. Czar and I saw him many times in Vegas when he was part of the Second City Improv group out there. He's really talented and funny, and his timing is superb. He's just one of those everyman-ish actors who doesn't get noticed as much. And that's a shame.

Which one is he, VK?

I was looking for the clip where Michael J Fox was Dan Quayle. Dammit, as always SNL keeps them from the world.
