Apparently they got a TON of rain in Wichita yesterday. My dad sent me pictures of their yard.

They live with a pond wrapping around two sides of the yard. That big rock you see is about 8' long and there should be probably another 8' of grass sloping down past it before you get to the water.

My Bro & Sis in law's house looked the same way. Water from the creek in their back yard was all the way (~70 feet) up to the back wall of the house.

Adding pics.

Cam

Yeah, they're over by Wilbur. Not sure which creek it is, it goes thru Rolling Hills Country Club golf course.

OH, ok. gotcha. Yeah, that's cowskin creek. It's way out of its banks.

Cool, didn't know the name. I do remember that that creek has had flooding issues for years.

Those steps lead down to their basement. I'm trying to convince them to add a couple more layers of brick. This is the 2nd time it's been this high this year.

yep. people who live near that creek always get screwed when it rains a lot.

Cam

the sad part is that it's better than it used to be. You wouldn't believe the amount of trash they pull out of there when it goes over its banks.

Floods suck....I'll never understand why the insurance companies get away with the way they insure folks.

The Chickaskia River at Blackwell had a record flood crest from the rain.

Gotta love those Pacific hurricanes. The 1986 crest now ranked #4 on the list is from Hurricane Paine, which was responsible for the record flooding of the Caney in Bartlesville.

We had flooding here on sunday and monday. Every east-west road in our town was closed at the point where they crossed the river except one due to the river completely overflowing it's banks and flooding the roadways. Things looked rather like your picture there.

I found this video from my town: Note the dumpster

I spent a considerable part of my youth in this park and I've never seen the water this high across Hydraulic. I've seen it get close to Hydraulic, but never 1-2 feet over it.

There's a white gate with a stop sign on the left center of the picture. The road goes down 6-8 feet and a creek runs under the road. I've seen it get close to Hydraulic, but never 1-2 feet over it.
