I don't have any local knowledge, but would like to meet up with folks,
I'm staying at the W. There is a bar in the hotel, but I don't know anything about it.

Nice... I didn't want to afford the 450 /night premium there however...2 weeks in Washington, need to save my money for the wineries and shipments home.

We're at the Homewood Suites on Pike Street.

Had no idea it was that pricey. I'm staying there on my brother's starwood rewards points (he uses the card for business).

Hopefully someone who knows seattle can come up with a place for us to meet that is centrally located for everyone.

Your Brother stays at a lot of Sheraton properties. Starwood points are the most difficult to accumulate, though they do have value as you are finding out...You'll enjoy the W. Your brother is being very nice.

No clue. We're staying on campus about a mile from the stadium.

Here's a video tour of Seattle that might have some good tips.

Here's the place:

http://www.fxmcrorys.com/

I have been here dozens of times for Mariner's games. It is next to Pioneer Square, Qwest Field and the Amtrak Station so parking is not an issue and really easy to find for first-timers. Many, many, many Scotch's :) :) :) available and ton's of great PacNorWest beers.

As a Seattle regular, I know dozens of places, but this would be the best...they routinely service football and baseball folk.

Review:

Located near Safeco Field (http://www.wcities.com/en/record/,27767/59/record.html), you may see any of the Seattle Mariners in a back booth. If you can't get tickets to a game, the big-screen televisions will put you in the ballpark's best seats anyway. The lively place is always packed on the weekends with a well-dressed crowd. The bar stocks more than 130 whiskies, as well as 28 beers on tap. Prices are high. (Note: it is downtown Seattle, prices are relative.) The food is much better than standard pub grub. (YES) Visit the impressive raw bar for oysters.

If they have a decent size bar for people just standing around, sounds good to me. All those in favor...

Aye!

Yes...it is a decent sized bar, about the size of O'Connells, with a nice restaurant attached as well. I'm thinking Friday night (not meaning to overstate the obvious there, but I'm in on Thursday so I was specific)...the M's are not in town that night. For those of you not downtown, check the link for directions, but it is near I-5 and just south of the tall buildings. As you come in from the airport (one of the great city interstate views in the world) you CANNOT miss Safeco and Qwest right next to each other...FX's is right across the street to the north from Qwest.

For those of you downtown...DO NOT DRIVE!! Taxi's are cheap and plentiful in Wet-town (so are the busses), and all you have to say is "take us to FX's by Qwest" and chances are the driver won't blink an eye...then...you can drink all the Redhook ESB (gag) you like! Remember, the game doesn't start on Saturday until 4:30 PDT!

Finally, bring plenty of fleece and hoodies...it may say 65 degrees but trust me, it's not your Okie Grandfather's 65 degrees...Puget Sound is freezing cold and the air is damper than Olevet's shorts when Sarah Palin is on the tube.

Anyone shows up in Thunder attire, the rounds on me!

Seattle-ites are not shy, but I used to wear my Athletics' garb and people were generally cool. Not sure about this scenario tho....

Have you made you dinner reservations yet? Any suggestions?

It will probably translate into 8:30/9ish for me. I'm not exactly a late night party hound.

We were gonna go up there but we're going to Vegas the day after. I almost wish I could cash in my tickets to Vegas and go. Almost.

Is the game at Husky Stadium or at the new Seahawks' stadium?

If it is the later you can easily walk from downtown to the stadium. It might be slightly longer than walking from LNC to Owen Field (depending on where you're at in downtown).
