Ohio State is top 3 no matter what.

ooooookay.

Some can think they are not. I mean they did destroy YSU saturday. Good thing YSU was only 7-4 last year.

Simple enough. I think USC, OU and OSU are interchangeable. But that is my opinion. Others may differ.

I agree I think we are a better team then they are. They still get the benefit of the doubt because the returned so many players, and have an easier conference schedule, " at least thats how the voting system works, as of now."

You guys buying into all of this Georgia hype are crazy, they are a good team but they have a brutal schedule, an up and down qb, and a just above avg D

Looks pretty good, but no way I'd have Missouri any higher than maybe 10. Juice Williams threw for about 400 yards on them.. LSU, Florida, and West Virginia would throttle them, IMO.

My top 5 would be the same, but I'd put Florida in there instead of Missouri.

Not a lot of objectivity out here... I kind of messed up I prob should have not put Mizzu ahead of OU... but for the most part usc is the best I saw this weekend...

BoulderSooner79

All the top teams performed as expected given the competition. Clemson just proved they didn't belong as a top team in the first place. Several experts picked ECU to beat VTU, so it wasn't really a surprise and they were not considered a top team anyway. USC looked great, but we don't know how good Virginia really is - I'm guessing not very. On the negative side, Georgia lost another starting lineman and as many have pointed out, MU made Juice Williams look really good. Bottom line is I'd move 'SC to the top spot for the week and maybe move Mizzou down a notch, but otherwise stick with the writers' poll from last week (sans Clemson, VTU and Pitt of course). Who move up and gets ranked ? (Colorado, ECU, others?)

Mizzou, because of their porous D, definately not 10 material this week.

Ranking Cincy in the Top 25, an Oklahoma homer vote.

SUC looked too good vs Virginia. I'd rank em #1 and not many here hate em as much as I do.

tOSU, Florida and Georgia should be up there but all of em lost key players last week so whether they can maintain remains to be seen.

OUr team, based on playing a very weak opponent, is still a mystery, but hey we looked good for a half.

saxet was a shaky for a quarter but righted things and should be a Top 10er.

The upset teams should be rated, not the upsettees, the upsetters. Don't forget UCLA.

I'm one of the ones here that hates SUC more than you do. My hate is so pure, it can only be equaled at best. And I have to put them at #1 (argh!).

I wouldn't rank UCLA just yet. The Vols had more talent and should have won and I see the Bruins fighting to make a bowl game. But they got one more win than I thought already, so who knows.

I don't think we should be ranked. We should at least get an asterisk next to us until we play a real team. So should anyone else who played a team as bad as we did.

I think that is the same as saying there should not be any pre-season rankings. It's also a slight to the Mocs and other out-matched teams to say they don't count and I see no reason to do that. Most ranked teams played cream puffs in week 1, so we didn't learn too much about any of them. But I see no reason not to stick with the preseason rankings. I guess the BCS has it right in that they don't rank until after 5 games (or is it 4?). That's the only one that really counts for BCS conference teams.

I guess this means that Georgia should not be ranked either.

Tenn-Chatt. beat Georgia Southern last year. So did Coastal Carolina, the team Penn State beat.

So it could have been worse.

Well, we will find out next week. That is when USC gets exposed.

OSU's defense will be tight this year. And in tight, I mean bad to the bone.

OU_Sooners75

I say the first poll should be released the first Monday in October.

The only ranking that matters comes out the First week of October al ready. It is called the BCS. So these polls are for the fans right now.

MiccoMacey
9/3/2008, 06:45 AM
tOSU...#1.

They shouldn't have been in the BCS game last year...they were a year away.

Almost their entire defense comes back from one of the best defenses in college football last year.

They have a good QB, a stable of great RBs and an absolute dynamite OLine.

And I'd like to know...are we ranking based on how good we think they are, or where we think they'll end up at the end of the year.

Otherwise, you have to put Georgia #2. Yes, they have a brutal schedule...but they're easily the second best team out there. They might lose a game to another really good team, but in a one match scenerio, they'd beat anyone not named tOSU.
