Stevens made 7 out of 8 exptra points. I'm sure he was a little nervous early. But, I am a little nervous in a tight game if it comes down to a field goal. He hit some extra low extra points. The kickoff specialist hit a few good kicks but hit some low and shallow ones as well. What happened to Tress Way? Maybe I got a little spoiled watching Hartley kick them out of the endzone and hitting moon shots on extra points. Not in a panic yet, but I hope they can improve.

I'm chalking it up to 1st game jitters. If it happens this week, then I'll start to be worried.

I agree. I only recall seeing one kickoff that reached the endzone(barely). The rest of them were around the 10 yd. line. Not gonna work on the better teams who can block.

Who WAS the kick-off guy? I never heard of him. He was weak!

The KO guy was Matthew Moreland out of Tulsa Bishop Kelley (I think). He's another big legged kicker, much like Tress Way. I guess the coaches are looking to 'shirt Tress and to use him at P next year after Knall graduates. If any of the kickers/punter look shaky, they will use Tress (look at '04 when they burned Hartley's 'shirt when DiCarlo went into the tank). In general, kickers are a position where you can do that more than anywhere else. As a former kicker/punter, I can tell you that coaches get real impatient if you start shanking punts/kickoffs and missing XPs/ short FGs.

I know Hartley missed a few. My main concern was how low he kicking the ball. And the weak kickoffs for the other dude. That was their first game. They may turn out awesome (I hope). Boomer!

Talked to Tress before the game, and he said he didn't expect to play and maybe redshirt. He said whatever God had in store for him was fine by him.

Didn't he mean to say whatever Bob had in store for him? :)

Give the kickers some time they will be solid. We have been spoiled with Hartley. Stevens will be a very good kicker for us.

What's the difference ;)

The uncertainty of this year's kicking is an unfortunate result of having to burn Hartley's redshirt year very late in the 2004 season.

It was a sensible decision at the time. DiCarlo had come unglued and Stoops probably didn't want to go into the Big XII Championship Game and National Title Game with continued question marks over DiCarlo's dependability.

Unfortunately, and though nobody's fault, Hartley made no difference in either game; both of them blowouts.
