I'm trying to pretend that commercial doesn't exist. Which is difficult because they show it on HGTV a lot during the shows I like. And I can't mute or change the channel on the TV I watch HGTV on because the either children hid the remote or the Chihuahu ate it. So I just have to sit there and listen. And be annoyed.

Why is it that wonderful chemical compounds brought to us by food industry chemical companies and their hardworking chemists that extend the life of our favorite products are demonized?

How we will ever eliminate world hunger if all our food products rot in two weeks without refrigeration?

And besides, how will Clark Griswold ever finance his next family vacation if his life's work is tossed out like Kraft salad dressing that has gone rancid?

These things bother me. sort of.

What IS the point of the hate?

The music bed is a (softened) Flaming Lips song. I think lots of Lips fans probably find it troubling. Me, I just see my boys cashing a check, which means they can afford to keep doing the weirdo rock thing for a while longer.

Shakespeare got to get paid, son.

Yeah, I mean none of those other bands that cashed checks started to suck.

The Lips have been cashing checks for a decade and a half.

Hate is such a strong word. The song in the commercial doesn't bother me one bit. Lots of big music acts are doing it these days. I just see it as another vehicle acts to get the music out there to the public. Nobody dogs Toby Keith for his ford commercials.

Plus, it's another vehicle for getting Shakespeare paid, son!
