Dear OU Students,

Don't open random attachments in poorly spelled e-mails from people you've never heard of, thus turning your computer into a spambot, dragging down the e-mail system on the first day of classes, and getting the OU SMTP servers blocked by a bunch of other e-mail systems. :mad: :mad: :mad:

Also: Lindsey is not the only street in Norman. Find an alternate route or two to get to the ****ing mall.

Wholly cripes!!! College age Earthoids have to told about such email knowledge? Like John C. Dvorak said it's a matter time before someone shuts the entire internet down due to lack of knowledge A.K.A. A bad case of the dumbazz.

Apparently. This happens every year on the first day of classes. The whole "e-mail thing" isn't exactly new anymore, you'd think basic e-mail sense would have filtered down to even the non-technical by now.


Someone in Russia you've never heard of did not just send you a Paris Hilton video.

No, stupid student that works in the server room = fail. Remember when someone tripped over the power cord and unplugged the email server? Everyone at OU lost email for two and a half weeks our Junior year.

i'm pretty sure there was email, you just weren't cool enough to get it ;)

they went campus-wide sometime between 95 and 97

i'm pretty sure there were a few ways to get email back in the 80's though

That's possible. The earliest recollection I had of anything OU-related was the OU BBS, I didn't log on there until about 1992-93 or so. I don't know about anything else at that time.
