Worst summer Olympic event?

I admit, I have been staying up late to watch the Olympics. Last night, I saw the BMX event, and I thought it was going to be one of those events that makes you say "What?!". However, I really thought it was pretty cool.

So, I got to thinking, what is the worst summer Olympic event? I've narrowed it down to three:

1. Rowing - There is no "come from behind" win in rowing. Here's how the race goes: On you marks, get set, row....and the Swedish boat takes the lead (15 minutes later, and absolutely no position changes), Sweden wins. I know it takes an elite athlete to be on an Olympic rowing team, it;s more about the pure non-excitement factor.

2. Table Tennis - or, as 99% of the world calls it, PING PONG. Who knew you could make it to the Olympics playing ping pong. If only I had not wasted all those nights drinking and playing ping pong, and applied myself, I could go lose to an Asian country!!!

3. Badminton - Seriously? Why isn't lawn darts an Olympic Event?

Equestrian was hands down the most boring thing I watched. About five minutes to horse trotting in circles had me wanting to gouge my eyes out.

Fencing does not do it for me. I am all for fighting with swords, but it has to be the most impossible sport to watch. Nobody wears colors to signify who they are, everything is in french, and nobody knows what's going on. After every point, both people celebrate to try to "Sell" the point... DESPITE THE FACT THAT THERE ARE LIGHTS ON THEIR HEADS THAT TELL WHO WON. Then, THE JUDGES CAN OVERRULE THOSE LIGHTS. What's the ****ing point, then? Can we not even attack each other with swords without making it into something that fails so utterly? French people ruin everything.

The reason why the lights can be overruled is that in some forms of fencing "right of way" is extremely important, as they are set up to simulate an actual duel as closely as possible. One would be foolish to claim that they won a duel by touching someone on the arm and leaving themselves open to a thrust through the chest. Thus, the judges should be able to say "Yeah, you touched first, but the other guy would have killed you as a result."

In other fencing events, the first touch overrules all as it's supposed to simulate a first blood duel.

I don't know if we're qualified to say that. I think it's hard to identify skills when we're not familiar with the game. And, I think this game is very popular in parts of Europe.

BTW, it was a blast when we played it in OU intramurals.

My vote is for the cycling around the little sloped track. It has so much potential but seeing guys ride as slow as possible for so long until one breaks away from the pack just ruins the sport. That being said, I haven't watched it in a long time so maybe (hopefully) they instituted some rule changes to get rid of that part of the sport.

I played it in PE in high school, and I've played competitive soccer and basketball before. It's exactly as I described it. You don't even have to dribble. And the goalkeeper? Pointless.

All y'all are wrong. Dressage (fancy horse walking) is a close second, but the answer is: air pistol. At least the dressage riders expend some calories getting on and off the horse.
