:D I never cease to marvel at the 'DUH' factor I see on the Orange Power board. I visit there occasionally just for a good laugh. The following quote was in response to a Georgia Tech blogger's question about why they pull for the 'smaller' school (OSU) and why not the bigger school 'OKLAHOMA SOONERS'. This is just so completely stupid it made me snort snot!!!

Oh, you want me to cite this. All righty... As you can see from this list (http://ncmat.com/title9/disprog.html), near 300 colleges have dropped wrestling from their athletic programs since 1972. I say "nearly 300" instead of the precise number of 281 given, because it is not all inclusive, like the recent dropping by Arizona State (http://fiveouncesofpain.com/2008/05/14/arizona-state-axes-wrestling-program/), for example.

So, Oklahoma State University, it's like this: When there are fewer and fewer competing against you in a particular sport, is it as noteworthy, as, say, the most competitive and hard-to-get championships in all of college sports?

I am, of course, referring to football. These titles are so hard to come by that schools claim them whenever possible! They are the most coveted in all of college sports! Why do you think ESPN has a College Gameday feature for football? Why does virtually every network and conference try to get each and every game on television, even if it's just on the Versus Network or the Big 10 Network or whatever?

College football is the biggest sport in all of college. This is why T. Boner is trying so hard to buy you guys a respectable program.

If you need a more telling sign, look at how many colleges are dropping football compared to wrestling. Look at how many t-shirts you guys print when you finally win a football game against us. Look at how many people you have showing up to the OU-OSU game and how many season tickets you sell when Oklahoma football comes to town. FOOT. BALL. Not Wrestling. FOOT. BALL.

I don't think they "love" OSU at all - they just love the underdog stuff clear down to their underoos. I had a "snot snicker" of my own when T. You have to hand it to them, they harbor and believe this mythology about OU as though it was some sort of "gospel" of their religion (mediocrity?). It grows every year, this grand conspiracy to "keep them down". It is never them or theirs that are not perfect, it's always OU's fault. From 1912 (the first game of the series) through 1945 (the year O-State went undefeated and won Sugar bowl) the aggies were 8-20-6 vs. OU. Why would prominent Oklahoma businessmen :texan: with no allegiance to either school go to Iba with the idea of a slush fund? Where these men used to backing losers? T.
