Going to likely stick with AT&T, so keep your choices to that. It's well past time to get a new phone. Like to have innerweb, full qwerty, etc.

what do you recommend? The new Bold from Blackberry looks cool

I ended up getting a Palm Centro. But I specifically wanted a smartphone that ram Palm OS so I could port all my stuff over from my PDA.

I've been pleased as punch with it. I don't have the internets and all that stuff, I just use it for the phone, the address book, and the calendar. But in that regard, it's familiar, easy to use, not a gigantic brick of a phone, and familiar to me. My only gripe is my fat fingers have a lil' trouble with the little keyboard. But given it's not a gigantic crackberry, that's okay.

If you're going to extend your plan there are a lot of places out there that you give you a really good deal on phones. However, you just then have to wait for the phone to arrive.

A friend of mine got me hooked on a site for phones called gsmarena.com (http://gsmarena.com)

Is the touch screen pretty easy to use? I thought of it as a cheaper iPhone. True?

srsly?

iPhone texting is the greatest texting there is. You go knit something or bake a pie or something, leave this conversation to the men folk.

I have an htc Touch - Basically the Tilt without the fold-out keyboard. If my company supported the Tilt I would have got it instead. htc makes some sweet phones.

I like my iPhone.

Then again, I'm gradually being assimilated by Apple. I just got an AppleTV last weekend-a product I almost literally have no use for, since anything in iTunes format that I wanted to play on my home theater I could just go through my iPod dock for.

However, it was a birthday present.

And it's actually kind of cool.

BlondeSoonerGirl

I'd love to have an iPhone for my personal use. But since the company pays for the 'ol phone and we're a Blackberry company that ain't gonna happen for me.

Once you pick an iPhone up and mess with it - you'll want one.

I am going to get an iPod Touch once one comes out that's big enough.

By "answer to the iPhone" do they mean "Another phone that won't play iTunes-formatted music?"

I realize that's not a big deal to some-even many. But I have a ton of music that's encoded as Apple Lossless Format.

BlondeSoonerGirl

The iPhone won't play iTunes formatted music? WTF?

Huh?

No, the iPhone plays iTunes music just fine. You can even buy directly from the iTunes store on your iPhone over a WiFi network.

What I mean is that several phones touted as an "iPhone killer" won't play iTunes formatted music.

BlondeSoonerGirl
8/19/2008, 08:37 PM
I was about to say...sorry, I get what you said now.

Yeah. Lots of things won't play that that stuff. Sucks. A lot of my stuff's in that format. But I never put music on my phone so I just didn't consider it.

Not true. RIM just released Media Sync which will allow Blackberry handhelds to play music in iTunes format.

I have a Blackberry Curve, and love it. But I agree with those that say "once you use an iPhone", I think they are awesome. That being said, it's a phone, and other than email and messaging (and obviously the phone), I don't need one to do anything else.

But the iPhone is quite cool.

That's cool. Didn't know that the Blackberrys suported iTunes stuff now.

My assertion that most phone marketed as iPhone-killers don't stands.

yeah, I want it more as a communication device, phone e-mail, messaging...not so much as a music player...I have one of those, that I like just fine.

A friend has the new 3G iPhone...it's hella sweet, but i'm just not sure I need all that.

thanks for all of the input guys, and gals<---GHP ;)
