I'm going to San Antonio next week for a much needed vacation. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to see or do? I'm staying on the Riverwalk, so that and the Alamo are a given.

Seaworld and Fiesta Texas are neat if you want a theme park type thing. The Botanical Gardens are gorgeous and pretty big as well. A good mix in types of land. The Tower of Americas has a nice restaurant at the top now (I think) and it rotates. I think there's probably a Mission tour that you can take that would take you to see all the other missions around SA.

There's a really great Outlet Mall in San Marcos about an hour north on 35 if you're into that. There's also a nice outdoor mall on the northside, but I can't remember the name... Has a Nordstroms and a few other really nice specialty shops.

There's also Fiesta Texas, but I haven't been there. Sea World is nice...feeding dolphins (get there early to get in the fish line), adult/kiddo water parks, other shows/rides (get there early to get wet at the Shamu show) and behind-the-scenes tours.

If it's in your time/money budget, get the 2-day tickets and spend one day do shows/rides, and the other wear your swim trunks and hit the water parks (and more shows/rides).

There was a neat, but fairly expensive buffet after hours dinner where you sit around the killer whale's training pool and get within about 10 feet of them. There was also a tour that took you to some other off-limits pool where you could touch a small shark and hand-feed some rays.

There's also some caverns just north (and northwest, I think). I've been to the Natural Bridge Caverns, and it was a decent value.

Howl At The Moon

Could not agree more. The most fun I have ever had at a bar. Its right by the Hard Rock.

Also, there is a run down deli called schilos. Homemade Draft Root Beer and made from scratch cheesecake, plus a bunch of authentic German food. Great eats.

Avoid the Riverwalk Mall with every bit of power you have. you cannot step 5 feet without being attacked by a sales pitch of some kind, whether its a timeshare or mineral make up or fake sunglasses. Worst mall I have ever been to.

Mad Dog and Dirty Nelly's are fun pubs.

Avoid Coyote Ugly. Biggest waste of time on the Riverwalk.

And find SAS.

and you may as well stop by the AlamoDome and wonder why any architect would think this arena has any aesthetic beauty (and don't even waste your time going inside)

Is Howl at the Moon the place where the drunk Mizzou fan threw her drink on you, Brat?
