View Full Version : How BAD will Notre Dame be this year?

I admit it,I am an unabashed Crying Itish hater.Looking at last season and the Irish slate for this year brings a smile to my face.I see only two certain wins for ND his year, along with 4 likely losses and six tossup games.IMHO even if the Crying Irish mange to win four of six tossups they will still be no better than 6-6.

San Diego State-W (H)

Michigan-L (H)

Michigan State-L (A)

Purdue-L (H)

Stanford-Even (H), Cardinal appears on the rise

North Carolina-Even (A) UNC made surprising progress under Butch

Washington-Even (A) Willingham is beeter than Weiss IMHO

Pitt-Even (H) Pitt at least had big W last year

Boston College-L (A)

Navy-Even (A) Normally this is ND W BUT after last year....

Syracuse-W (H)

USC-L (A) Could be REALLY ugly

Personlly I ll ook for ND to go no better than 3-3 in Even games which would make them 5-7.The signifigance of that ? It would mark NDs first back to back losing seasons.Ithink that is VERY likely as the GOLD and BLUE had a roster of HS A-A's and stunk it up.This year will cement Weiss as a failure as headcoach.

I like it,I love it,I want some more of it.This season will put Regis in a coma. :D

Couldn't happen to a better program. I am gearing up for the '12 - '13 exchange! Hope Landry Jones is there for his Senior year!

Remember when Jimmie Clausen said his goal at Notre Dame was to win four national championships?

:D:D:D

Now that he has been hit by a reality check 34 times (a new ND record!), what shall his revised goals be? I suggest we pole it :)

a) THREE national championships
b) Three BCS invites (keeping in mind that this is easy for them to do, being ND)
c) Three bowl invites
d) Three bowl WINS
e) Four conference championships - one down, three to go!

I wouldn't be surprised if they go to a bowl game. They were very young last year, and there's a lot of talent on that roster. I wish they'd lose every game for the rest of time, but it won't happen.

Looking at their roster this year and their schedule, they could sneak into a bowl.....or they could snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. Wouldn't surprise me either way.

Don't want them to lose so many they fire the HC. One of these days, they will luck into hiring another Granny, to lead them to good seasons.

In theory it is possible for the domers to be worse than last year but I think it would be difficult in 2008 for them to . . .

. . . go 3-9 (school record for losses)

. . . give up 58 sacks (another school record)

. . . finish last in NCAA total offense (242 yards a game in 2007)

. . . start the season 0-5 (worst start in 119 seasons)

. . . lose six straight at home (worst home losing streak in school history)

. . . lose to Navy (first time since 1963)

. . . experience not one but two of the worst losses ever (38-0 to both Michigan and Southern California).

On the other hand, we can all hope!

On the other hand, we can all hope! Those stats are part of the reason I think Weiss sucks as a headcoach. It is also why although I think ND will be better(stats show it would hard to be WORSE)I still think 5-7 or maybe 6-6 is all they can muster this year.In 2005 Bob had a young team full of question marks and managed an 8-4 record .Weiss was in a similar scenario last year and his team was atrocious,I'm thinking awful is as far UP as they go this year.IMHO Weiss = Schnelly.

No domer lover here but they'll be back soon. Too much talent.

Yes, especially in the coach. Talent in eating, talent in driving alumni away, talent in starting a ND-Navy postgame tradition then having to stand on the field for it after losing for the first time since '63 :D:D:D:D

Remember that his playbook can win championships :D:D:D:D

Too bad it can't win more than three games! :D:D:D:D

Too bad that talent is too young to comprehend it :D:D:D:D

Too bad that ND signed him to a lengthy luxurious contract and is stuck with him :D:D:D:D

For a very, very long time :D:D:D:D

Cheer, cheer

NormanPride

The problem with ND's "talent" is that it's highly overrated simply on the fact that the kids are going to ND. They'll always have players, yes, but recruiting can be tricky there.

I don't know... I really feel like Weis' arrogance can only be a match made in heaven for the all-time OMG program of Notre Dame. It's almost like Les Miles being with LSU... they deserve each other.

After years of BCS and poll favoritism, it is time to see the almighty ND squirm a little. The football gods (and perhaps real God) did not look kindly on the untimely firing of Tyrone Willingham. Sure they went Fiesta Bowling, but that's one year (and they lost big time).

Perhaps they would be more suiting to a bowl they merit? A very good explanation to their continued losing efforts in the post season.
