This happened just north of me 8 or so miles on Highway 75. I didn't know about it until my mother called me and asked if I was watching the news. 14 dead.

I don't know, but I'm guessing it is.

The teevee is reporting that a right front tire blowout was the reason.

I was on a charter bus one time and our driver fell asleep at the wheel in the middle of the night, next thing you know we are in the middle of the median on the interstate in Maryland dumped all over the floor. We were lucky the damn thing didnt turn over...

That's the speculation. Since I heard about it and turned the TV on I have found out that it's been on CNN, if not all the cable news channels. I know all the local Texomaland and the Dallas channels too have been reporting.

I remember a while back ol' ST posted a dealio about tires that are over 6 years old being unstable and inherently unsafe. I wonder....?

Press conference now from Sherman (2:00 pm).

Dead are ages from 12-70.

It's very sad. This happened less than a mile from where I work. Prayers and thoughts out to those families.

Hwy 75, in and around Sherman, is one of the deadliest I have ever seen. The local tv station has a story about a serious accident every other night or so.

I don't think so.

His family owns a chain of noodle houses called "Hu Dat" down at the coast.

Let's just say that "Dat Nguyen" is a very popular name.
