Here is whata I came up with:

776-298-53 all time record which is 8th in NCAA history for wins,a71.2 winning % which is 5th all time(71.4 would tie OU for 3rd).

OU IS the all time leader in NCAA history in wins and %in the MODERN ERA 535-163-13 76.2 %(dates from the end of WWII).

OU is the all-time highest scoring team in NCAA history with 29,772 points(26.4 ppg). When we score OUr 228th point this season,we will be the first school to crack the 30,000 point barrier.

OU is 5th best all-time in NCAA scoring defense 13,748 points(12.2 ppg)

Sooners are #1 in NCAA history in scoring margin (14.2 ppg).

We have 7 National Titles(23 if we count 'Bama style, which is to count an NC anytime anyone names you #1).Personally I'm glad we don't count 'Bama style because I have never heard of some people/organiztions which have crowned us.

Our storied football history includes 144 All-Americans,4 Heisman winners, 18 players in the College Football Hall of Fame,23 bowl championships,40 conference titles and the longest winning streak in NCAA D-1 history(47 games from 1953-1957).In addition we currently have 3 coaches in the Cfb HOF(Owen,Wilkinson,Switzer) and a fourth in Bob Stoops who is HOF in waiting. In fact when Bob wins his 100th game(he is currently 97-22),OU will be the 1st school to have FOUR 100 win Coaches.

I know many of you are aware of these accomlshments of the OU football team BUT I just felt as the season approaches we need to be reminded of how GREAT OUr SOONERS are.

Please feel free to mention any facts of Sooner greatness I may have missed.

I love me some OU Gootball. That Gutierrez is a credit to Sooner Nation and even though he pretty much played special teams and special teams alone last season, he was always one of the first down that field to deliver the kickoff highlight of the game in a receiver mauling hit.

Now that the days of Gootball are over, I am hopeful that a new Gootball era starts again with a rising star. Q was Gootball's predecessor. Who will be the silent but respected leader?

Believe it or not I did preview this post before posting.Apparently this legally blind thing bit me in the tail again. On second thought isn't goot German for good?If so doesn't it follow that we play GGODBALL.Ok,those are my two excuses for this typing gaffe, choose one. :)

The list is long. . .just a few more.

More 11 win seasons than anybody else
More 10 win seasons than anybody else
More weeks in the top 5 than anybody else
More weeks at #1 than anybody else except Notre Dame. . .who we are tied with
#3 on the "years in the final AP poll" list

We really are crazy good. . .and that's not just me looking through crimson glasses. It's hard to even talk to fans of other schools. They can't relate to the kind of success we have year in, year out. "Man, 11 wins is amazing! Anybody who is mad about that kind of season is crazy!" Yeah, if you're from Kansas State then 11 wins *is* amazing. Here it's just barely average.

Friend, print it out? This list of FACTS should be committed to long term memory. Every night before laying your head down to go to sleep just read the list three times. In twenty-one days or less, it will be locked into the gray matter.

Then, when the misplaced high plains whorn fan quips about the puny orange, you can lay the facts on him.

Something is missing - oh yeah, the Real Killer B's - Bennie, Bud, Barry, and BOB!! Few, if any, can match that group of great coaches!

ASccording to Cfb Data Warehouse we were also awarded titles in 1918,1954,1958,1972,1977,2002.Quoting this source also gives a total of 41 conference titles. We won in 1972 but were forced to forfiet 3 games so according to the NCAA,we are not the OFFICIAL Big 8 Champs for 1972.

Yeah, if you're from Kansas State then 11 wins *is* amazing. Here it's just barely average.I wanted to put numbers to your additions to the list and came up with :

(30) 10 win seasons,(29) if you take out 1972 forfeits
(18) 11 win seasons, (17) with 1972 forfeits
(48) top 20 AP finishes(out of 71 total final polls)
(22) Top 5 finishes
(31) Top 10 finishes
OU HAS BEEN RANKED IN 656 WEEKS OUT OF APOSSIBLE 965 WEEKS
(95) TOTAL WEEKS RANKED #1(TIED WITH ND).
One overlooked stat is that OU has had 428 FIRST TEAM All-Conference players.

One other OU stat.Since Preseason Polls began in 1950 there have been 9 ocassions where the #1 ranked team in preseason finished #1,OU did it 4 of the 9 times.

I double checked with the Official NCAA Record Book & it only lists the 17 years I named. Know where CFB Data Warehouse got their info? Did it cite anything?

I double checked with the Official NCAA Record Book & it only lists the 17 years I named. Know where CFB Data Warehouse got their info? Did it cite anything? They list their sources for each year.Go to the site and check for yourself.Since these are COMPLETELY unofficial cahmpionships I would say the number depends on the source quoted.College Football Datawarehouse lists each CHAMPIONSHIP YEAR and the naming .

To make it easier I looked it up myselfand found the following:
year/Naming authority

1918/ James Howell
1954/ Montgomery Full Season Championship
1958/ Bob Kiffin
1972 /ARGH Power Ratings,Gupta Power Ratings
1977 / Montgomery Full Season Championship
2002 / Leon Maxwell

I have no claim to knowing the legitimacy(or lack thereof) of any of these authorities,I simply mention them as part of OUr lesser(unclaimed) titles. As I stated in my original post I am glad we don't follow the "Bama formula but did think that the total of 23 titles was worth mentioning.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be an *** or anything. I'm just a stats guy, so I was curious. I need to ask a "Bama fan how exactly they count theirs, then explain to them how many more than them we still have :D
