winner of USC-tOSU should be in a good spot...

UGA's got a couple of early games that should be interesting

Apart from being way too early...I am glad the Big XII is getting their propers but Texas doesn't have the talent this year to be ranked at 10. I have issue with the Big X rankings...way too high other than tOSU. I don't know why, but I think this year's cinderella story is Arizona State. Interesting, but way too early to care and lose sleep like I do during the season.

where is the token vote for duke, spurrier not voting this year?

Spurrier clearly didn't vote for Duke. He's still listed as a voter.

Starting that high means we should control our own destiny, uSuc and tOsu have to go head-to-head and no way does UGA go undefeated.

im happy with 4. really anyone in the top 10-15 in the beginning pretty much control their fate.

uSuc and tOsu have to go head-to-head

I agree whole-heartedly. In this case, starting at #3 or #4 is virtually the same since the winner of that game was going to be ranked ahead of us anyway. In that case, root for SUC. They are more likely to stumble later, and if tOSU beats SUC, then it will become very hard to jump over them since they would have a high-quality road win. Also, UGA will lose, but lets hope it is to ASU and not LSU or FLA. In those scenarios, see my first point about SUC-tOSU.

Georgia # 1 but only by 8 points, not that much. I wonder what coaches voted us # 1, isn't there a way to see each coach's rankings? Anybody?

I'd flip OSU and Southern Cal, but I guess that will be sorted out in a month and a half. No real issues for me in the poll, although I am semi surprised Michigan is ranked and Utah is not.

who in their right mind would put notre dame in their top 25?
they were barely out of the bottom 25 last year
i would need to see them win some games first before i even thought about ranking them.

Without looking, Jim Leavitt at USF, Leach, and maybe Todd Graham at Tulsa are good candidates. I can guarantee it wasn't Smellsofbourbon or the Bowdens based on their voting last year.

The logic is sound, but I'll have to wait until I'm dead before I can pull for USC. And I'll have to have been dead for a long time at that. :D

Georgia: loses to @ Arizona state, and Auburn in the sec championship.
Sc: could lose to Arizona, might save Mike's job. Or possibly lose to ucla
Ohio State: lose to Sc, maybe Illinois or even penn state.
Oklahoma: could lose to A&M, or tech, but I doubt it.

just talking out my butt.

Oklahoma: could lose to A&M, or tech, but I doubt it.

We have a new officer in our HQ who is an Aggie and when he found out that I am a Sooner, he immediately said that we will destroy them this year. They have no line, receivers, or DBs, and he will expect that they will have a losing record by the time we play them. He also cannot understand the Sherman hire. He compared it Smellsorbourbon and Bill "Slash" Callahan.

Georgia will beat ASU easily in a half empty Tempe stadium. These "fans" in the desert dont even show up when #1 USC comes to town every other year. Plus their not very good!!!

I really like where we're sitting @ #4. Georgia will beat ASU but it's impossible to make it thru the sec schedule without a loss this year. "The" OSU will lay an egg somewhere along the way, I think it will be in Madison and @ USC. USC has a great team with a dirty sanchez of a QB and the schedule sets up for them pretty good. We could use some help from Mike when they go to Tucson. Depending on how good the Dirty Sanchez is, I think USC could go undefeated.....

2004 rematch is a brewing!!!!!

Jim Leavitt is a personal friend of Coach Stoops, and he reminds me a lot of Coach Stoops, especially in his early years. I get to hear Leavitt a lot on the sports talk down here in Tampa, and he is my second favorite coach behind our beloved Stoops. I could see Pellini doing voting us #1, but he probably gave his support to LSU. Todd Dodge might have, but he's a Whorn.

it's not like 90% of the coaches are the ones who actually do the voting themselves. It really should be the USA Today Athletic Department Poll.

the UNT and Tulsa coaches play us a lot, and we aren't forced to

i'm not saying they would be necessarily be voting us #1 but i would think they would not be pulling a Bowden/Smellsofbourbon at the end of the year
