these guys in the 70's were the height of stylized pop, which ain't normally my cup of tea, but their singles were catchy, dammit!

The vids are so cheesy but the music still makes me smile. If you asked me at 10 years old who my favorite band was...... :O

please witness:

Sweet Talkin' Woman. This reminds me of the Comet skating rink because it was like every 4th song they played. The dood clapping his hands at 3:16 just makes you feel good to be alive:

Living Thing... i guess the old saying is true -- you can never have enough kaleidoscope shots of a blue violin:

Don't Bring me Down. well.. DON'T BRING HIM DOWN.

Strange Magic. This is interesting because 1) it's live from PBS concert in 2001 and 2) it sounds really damn good for a bunch of doods over 20 years after the fact and 3) they've got a chick filling in for the other singer, opposite Jeff Lynne, 4) presumably because Jeff couldn't keep himself from throwing punches at the guy. From what little I've read.

ELO was my fav group inthe late 70s. I liked them becuase of their classical influence and use of classical instruments, then they went and got disco? I didn't get that, but still liked the music - sorta.

One time when i was a kid, just after the miracle of cable TV came to Norman...i was listening to 96X and watching the TV guide scroll on the TV screen....the soundtrack of which was the KATT.

and "Don't Bring Me Down" was playing at exactly the same time on both stations. like, exactly the same....note for note with nary a hint of difference. it was like the equinox, but way cooler. amazing stuff.

ELO is the polar opposite of the Counting Crows - a good band, with a good sound, who has talent. I view ELO as being what the Beatles would have been had they stayed together.
