I had one of those. srsly.

Here's the thing. That set had a device, called a "thing maker", that was actually an industrial-grade hot plate. The hot plate heated the steel molds in which you squirted the "goop" to about 857F degrees. After about ten minutes, you removed the blazing hot mold, let it cool (if you were patient enough), and peeled out the now solid fake bug you made.

Imagine. Giving a nine-year-old an industrial quality hot plate complete with molds containing liquid plastic that for a few minutes became hot enough to deliver third-degree burns. And no automatic off switch. Thus, if Junior plugged it in then decided to go watch The Munsters when they came on in primetime, he could easily burn down the house or sizzle his baby sister who happened upon it.
