According to an airport spokeswoman, after the passenger, an unidentified male, told the flight attendant about a bomb that supposedly was on his connecting flight in Newark, she alerted the pilot, who notified the control tower that there was a bomb threat aboard [this plane].
Let's see, some guy says there's a bomb aboard a completely different flight, so TSA decides to search this plane. Better safe than sorry, I guess, but did they do any follow up regarding the connecting flight? But hey, at least you know all your fellow passengers are wearing clean socks. I know I feel safer.
