For those of you too lazy to read this, this guy was SECURITY FORCES in the National Guard. 9-11 happens...his unit is scheduled to go to the sandbox for some playtime...he files Conscientious Objector status...TWICE! Oh yah...he freely admits it.

This would be like me being a Radar Nav on a B-52, then refusing to release the ordinance cause I have a problem with killing people.

I don't care if the Donks come up with a pure-blood socialist against him...I will NEVER vote for him. Oh yah...I can't wait til he shows up at my door again. ****ING COWARD!

How the hell can you claim conscientious objector if you're already in the service? It's an all-volunteer force fer cryin outloud.

“Honestly, it never really entered my mind when I signed up for the service that I might have to take another person’s life. That’s why it was such a tough decision. I did it to protect the guys I was with.”

:confused::rolleyes:

I never knew until now that you could join the military and claim to be an objector of conscious. Seems to me that was something that should have came up earlier in the process.

And this wonderful POS who dares to call himself a "Reagan Conservative" just won the Repub primary for our district.

Amazing! Can't believe he won. Sad state of Repub affairs in Norman and the country as a whole...

And the bastage is on the FRONT PAGE of the Norman Transcript. Seriously, I'm ready to write a letter to the editor on this one...I just gotta remember to keep my rank and **** outta it.

When my FIL was drafted into the Army in '67, he filed for CO status out of respect for his dad (a Pentecostal Holiness preacher). He spent a year as an orderly at the Army mental hospital in Kansas City. He was getting into fights every weekend at the local bars, and finally said to heck with it and changed his status. When his first set of orders were cut, they had him going to Nam.

It only made sense to him, he wasn't a very good CO anyway.

If you want to be in the military and be a CO, then get into a NON-COMBATANT position...doctor, nurse, medic, chaplain, JAG, etc. You don't want to kill people and you went SECURITY FORCES?

Heh. So that's the kind of people you Okie 'pubs vote for, huh? Someone too ****ing stupid to know that being in the military might actually require you to kill the enemy. :D

let me fix this for you.

"you don't feel capable to exercise the belief that sometimes killing is a part of military obligations-especially the one you signed up for".

"want to kill people" as such is kind of creepy as a phrase.

My wife and I sure as hell didn't vote for him...and we sure as **** won't in the general election.

I'm not even gonna point towards the coward thing as much as the "I will do anything I can to do what I want to do and I will find a loophole if I have to do it".

Really not someone who thinks things through IMO.

I don't think he should be in office. I think he might be a great fit in upper management at SemGroup though.

This guy is one of those dirtbags who thought Guard duty would be a good way to make a little extra money and put something patriotic on his resume (for a future political career, obviously) while marching around in uniform occasionally on the weekends. But when it came time to actually, ya know, go to war then he realized 'that's not what I got into this for!' Dirtbag.

I hate to see friends and colleagues and old broken guys and new moms going over again and again for months at a time. But I think they should make a special platoon out of Guard and Reserve who signed up for the extra dough but then said 'no, not me!' at the first deployment; PCS that group to Afghanistan for 36 months.

Is this Thad Balkman's old seat?

Norman residents ought to be publicly flogged and shamed for putting him out of office. He's a fine man.

I could see why you like man, he is for less gov't... unless it involves a womb or a liquor store.

Yes, it is...cause he's running against Wallace Collins for this seat in the GE.
