I got to this level today. I think I have maxed out my I.Q. on this one. It will take many beers, and a few sleepless night to crack this one.

I haven't posted in this thread, but I have been pretty obsessed with this thing since Czar posted it. I have now done every level except Awash, Tube, and Unpossible, most of them several times. I love this thing.

I didn't start saving until late in the game, so I only have a few saved. What I find most fun is going and looking at other designs for levels I've completed. Holy crap, some of them are amazing.

The CW wheel that just spins in the air shouldn't have any effect, but if you remove it, the whole thing gets bogged down at first. It's as if it's getting counted as motive force even though it doesn't have any tractive effort. Wonky physics.

I tried it a few different ways and that worked the best. I think it helps get the blocks jammed up against the 'hood'?

Er, maybe not. The wheel keeps the blocks from riding too far up, thus keeping down the amount of weight that can accumulate at the front. Fascinating.

It's all about where you place the center fulcrum on that one. Too high, and the bottom "legs" kick in and down you go. Same thing if it's placed too low.

I thought too much flexibility would be a problem, so I did a square instead of 'X'. It either fell through the bottom or didn't have enough traction to lift itself. There's a fine line between overthinking these suckers and just going for it.

It was a show on pre-historic bugs, and they were trying to figure out how large a bug can get today given the oxygen levels in the atmosphere (apparently, this can effect their size....more Oxygen = bigger bugs). Back in day, some 200 millions years ago, there was a much higher content of O2, and critters like the dragonfly could be the size of a hawk :eek: ) But I digress; they were trying to figure out how a bug's respiration system works, so they took a beetle to this massive machine that conducts sub-atomic material around a tube that's like a mile in diameter, and the resulting images create fantastic views of little things. So what we had was an extremely detailed x-ray of a beetle's anatomy - live, in progress, as it lived and breathed.

Well, in the sense that there is this idea that the universe is just perfect for life, the things that allow that derive a lot from the big bang. But really, the big bang theory derives from a whole host of other theories. There really aren't a whole lot of things that derive from it.

As far as books, Brian Greene has written a couple on string theory. The Elegant Universe is a decent one. (Full disclosure, I kinda think string theory isn't much more than pretty math, and not very useful...but that could change if they can ever use it to make predictions we can test.)

One of the science bloggers I like to read is currently working on a book explaining some of the more esoteric principles of quantum physics through conversations with his dog. It looks like it will be a very good book, but no word yet on a release date.
