Norman police officer shoots naked man

NORMAN — A police officer shot a naked man as the two fought in a Norman apartment complex parking lot today, police Capt. Leonard Judy said.
Their identities were not released. The man was taken to a Norman hospital, where his condition had stabilized this afternoon, Judy said.
About 11:50 a.m., a woman called 911 and said a naked man was breaking into cars in the parking lot of Savannah Square Apartments, 300 36th Ave. SW, Judy said. A police officer who responded to the scene found the man sitting in a car.
The officer approached the man and a physical confrontation followed, Judy said. The man tried to drive off during the fight, and the officer was dragged a short distance because he was still entangled with the man and the car.
As he was being dragged, the officer fired one shot at the man, hitting him in the upper torso, Judy said. The officer was treated and released from a Norman hospital with minor injuries, mostly scrapes and bruises.
It’s possible the man was wearing a towel, but he was otherwise not clothed, Judy said.
