A gorgeous gift from Divine Providence. Its aroma is incomparable and a single whiff invokes memories of summertime and happy repasts of peach ice cream, cobblers and other gustatory delights. If the noble apple is the King of fruits, then surely the lovely peach is the Queen.
Its color is remarkable, its single pit is easily avoided and discarded, and its fuzzy peel can be eaten with its meat to impart an captivating blend of textures. Other than its single stony pit, the entire fruit can be eaten.
It can be successfully cultivated throughout most of the lower two-thirds tier of states, and it takes to canning like few other fruits.
Moreover, there is something vaguely evocative of the female form in a peach.
Yep, I'm a peach man. And it's peach time in Oklahoma. Get you some.

Only if ripe, perfect nectarine is somewhere in the family.

My wife was driving back from West Texas last weekend and said all of the peach stands in the Hill Country were open and doing a booming business.
If I had my little way, I'd eat peaches every day

Here's ya some Peaches (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19McuaPKjI8) :D
Here the peaches from South Cackalackie are all the rage. Mmmm Mmmmm.
The gals I work with taught me the best and simplest cobbler recipe EVAR:
5-6 medium peaches, skinned, pitted, and cut into shapes/sizes you like
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
½ stick butter or margarine
Mix the battery stuff and then pour it into a shallow baking pan.
Pour the peaches over it.
Oven preheated to 350, 35-50 minutes depending on how you like it.
The battery stuff rises up through and over most of the peaches perfectly
every time. It's magic.
Serve hot, cold, with ice cream, it's deeeeeelishus.
Some damn fine melons in Oklahoma.

My mom used to call this a cupa-cupa-cupa recipe, it had a cup of flour, milk and sugar. Then one of the characters on Steel Magnolias said the same thing. It's pure goodness with ice cream. Can't be beat.

The hot cousin that if it wasn't for that whole cousin thing, you'd totally bang. Given a choice, you'd choose not to bang your hit cousin/nectarine. But she's bangable by all means.
The nectarine, that is.
I made peach&cinnamon ice cream a few weeks ago.
yum.
BTW, until then I had never heard of saturn peaches. Thems yummy too. but smallish.
Peach cobbler is the shiznit. In fact, I am with Homey on most of his comments. Peaches are pretty much always good.
This thread reminds me of the song:
Movin to the country,
Gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin to the country,
Gonna eat me a lot of peaches
Movin to the country,
Gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin to the country,
Gonna eat a lot of peaches
Peaches come from a can,
They were put there by a man
In a factory downtown
If I had my little way,
Id eat peaches every day
Sun-soakin bulges in the shade
Take a little naps where the roots all twist
Squished a rotten peach in my fist
And dreamed about you, woman,
I poked my finger down inside
Make a little room for it to hide
Natures candy in my hand or can or a pie
Millions of peaches, peaches for me
Millions of peaches, peaches for free
Look out!
