A question for all who HATE the Thunder nickname?

If you had been around when OU was first looking for a nickname,would SOONERS have been your first choice?I think if you can be honest and look at it from a perspective devoid of history,tradition,and sucess that is NOW associated with Sooners,you would say no.

A nickname only truly means something after it has time and history attached to it.I would say THUNDER is not my favorite team name,BUT if that is the name I could grow to love it.

For what it is worth,I think I would have opted for Roughriders orBoomers (the other two nicknames assiciated with early OU sports teams) over SOONERS.Now however after 48 years on this planet (39 as a Sooner fan)I would not cahnge it .
