View Full Version : Cracker Barrel Restaurants and Old Country Stores

Anyone else look forward to 45 minute waits for some biscuits and gravy while saying "Excuse me" 500 times while people browse cheap Chinese made crap? Also, folks appear to take their grossly overweight bratted-out kids there for feasting.

Maybe it's the driving that gets me irritable.

they should remove the "old country store" from the front of half of the restaurants. Just call those "Barrel". The rest of them get the store and the "Cracker" name.

I like their food but hate the kitsch crap in the stores.

I have never been in a Cracker Barrel. This thread helps validate that choice.

We've been to the one in Shawnee several times; it's a favorite stopping point for a lot of people on the way back East after OU games and the food has always been good

Don't get me started on Cracker Barrell. I once got into a near-family-get-together-ending fight over going to that place, I hate it so much.

Love it on weekday afternoons, after the lunch rush. Otherwise, I don't think there's anyplace worth waiting for to eat. Period. If you won't take reservations and insist on having a line at the door, you won't be getting any o' my money. 'Cept when Mrs. Rogue insists which isn't very often.

The buffet at the Firelake Casino in Shawnee is good. And no waiting. Even on gameday evenings.

There's a Cracker Barrel so close to me that I'd walk over every effing day for brekfizz if I A: Was not so lazy. B: Wanted to become a hood ornament at any of the pedestrian crossings (IH10 @ Huebner Rd.)) I'd need to negotiate.
(I loves me a Cholesterol Lover's Monster Breakfast Platter at the C-Barrel!)

Soooo...I breaks some aigs, nukes some baykun or browns some sawsidge, butters the toast, and pours another cuppa kawfee.
Or (See: Lazy.), I jams some Brown Shugger Sinnymun PopTarts in the toaster.

And where else can you get chicken and dumplins? I love 'em and it's one of those dishes that I never learned to cook.

Yes, Cracker Barrel is kitschy. The food is bad for you.

But, I have maintained for years if you put one right off I-35 at Ardmore, you would have a license to print money. See, I know my people. And I know lots of folks driving I-35 between DFW and OKC would enjoy a nice fried whatever at the halfway point.

Dear Cracka Barrel...

You suc so bad we now have a 2 page thread about it.

You might want to fire some Upper Management and re-think your business plan.

That is all...

The food is okay, but not worth the wait. But the claustrophobic waiting area is for the birds. I resist going there if at all possible.

If you hit the lotto...

Wouldn't it be fun to go into one...buy everything in the store front...take it outside and and set it on fire?

Just a thought...sorry. :D
