Criticism over luxury capsules

A watchdog group says the Air Force wants to use money in its counterterrorism budget on luxury capsules for planes.

The Air Force's use of more than $16 million in counter-terrorism funds for "comfort capsules" on military planes has prompted an internal debate over whether taxpayer money should be used for luxury Defense items.

Air Force officials say the government needs the new "capsules," which will be installed aboard Air Force aircraft, to ensure that leaders can talk, work and rest comfortably in the air. But the top brass's preoccupation with creating new high-flying luxury in wartime has alienated lower-ranking Air Force officers familiar with the effort, as well as congressional staff and a nonprofit group that calls the program a waste of money,

No one has ever been promoted to the rank of general officer who had a 75 year-old wife. ;)

I was at a promotion ceremony for a 2LT to 1LT. The Col said at one point, This is the part where you talk about all of the officer's accomplishments. But he's a really good guy and deserves to be promoted.

Do something like pull a team together to go clean up a veterans monument, polish the B52 on static disply, do some help at the VA, volunteer to be the CFC focal point. Anything like that. I'm sure Homey would agree that will go over well as a LT showing some initiative, community service type activity everyone can rally around. Also showcases building leadership skills.

Being an SOS DG as a young captain helped me a lot. It got me to ISS in-residence and a DP to major.

Nowadays, being a SOS DG pretty much assures you of Lt. Col below-the-zone.
