Seriously, the wife and I just saw it...it was really good. Julie Walters totally makes this movie...as does Pierce Brosnan's singing ().

But I get a head start for actually being married...and to a woman for that matter.

And reevie...we saw it in Vegas in March...and might see it on Broadway in October.

C'mon...admit it...most of y'all listened to this peppy crap back in the day...

At least I wasn't wearing a freakin ABBA t-shirt to the theater last night like some guys were! I still know most of the lyrics to the songs though ;)

i never did. i heard dancing queen or something at Skateland but i didn't listen to it. they don't suck as bad as a lot of stuff. that video is amazingly "gay" though.

All their videos are amazingly gay...then again, all 70's and 80's pre-MTV videos were.

King Crimson

most of the crap on MTV was crap. no amount of nostalgia will ever convince me otherwise.

90% of it wasn't good music. why people get misty eyed for the Thompson Twins is real mindbender to me.

I have one fond ABBA memory. It involved Lake Murray, a gal a year older than me who had her license, a summer night, and "Waterloo" being played on KVSO AM 1240 (Ardmore) while that gal, who shall remain nameless to protect her privacy, allowed me access to her fun bags. They were my first ones.

It was 1974. It was awesome.

Any time a man uses the term "amazingly gay", the normal processs is to "don't tell."

At least you didn't use "fabulously" or "wickedly."

Hehehe. Yermom likes ABBA.:P

Actually, I do too. I hope to see both Dark Knight and Mamma Mia tonight. The little girl is at camp, and I can send Czar and the boy in to see the second movie of their choice after we all see Dark Knight.

I don't think I stand a chance in hell of bringing Czar in to watch Mamma Mia with me, though. I'll let him keep his balls in pants and not in my purse this evening.

Thing is, this is the perfect husband movie. It's lame/girly enough to count as an "OK, you went to see [insert guy movie here] with me, I'll go see a girly movie with you, I'll sacrifice because I love you" movie. However, since there's Abba songs it will be semi-cool enough to not be such a terrible sacrifice. Win-Win situation.

Viking Kitten
7/19/2008, 01:18 PM
The thing is, Czar never has to cajole me to go see a "guy movie" as long as it's a good guy movie. I'm as excited about Dark Knight as my menfolk are.

We're going to Cirque du Soleil tonight. I can't decide if my balls are being put in a purse or not?

I just have to wonder what they were thinking allowing this movie to open against The Dark Knight. It's not a movie I ever plan on seeing, but I can look objectively at all it has going for it, and I'd say it should be a pretty big hit. It risks being largely forgotten opening this weekend, though.

Counter-programming. They were counting on women not wanting to see The Dark Knight and going with each other while their boyfriends and husbands went to TDK.

7/20/2008, 12:44 AM
They chose poorly. Last night was our anniversary date, and my wife suggested TDK. I didn't argue.

We were later than we would have liked to the theater last night, and we were looking for the end of the line in, and saw another line that we assumed was to the theater showing Mamma Mia. Nope. That was our line, which had gone all the way to the end of the hall and looped back upon itself.
