It's amazing some of the things you can find in Las Vegas -- and not just what you can talk about on a family Web site, either.

But for the purposes of following the Big 12, here are some early odds for the season-opening weekend that begins on Aug. 28, courtesy of Vegas Insider.

Thursday Aug. 28

Baylor (+6) vs. Wake Forest

Iowa State (No line) vs. South Dakota State

Saturday Aug. 30

Oklahoma State (-6) vs. Washington State at Seattle

Missouri (-7 1/2) vs. Illinois at St. Louis

Colorado (-12) vs. Colorado State at Denver

Nebraska (-14) vs. Western Michigan

Texas A&M (-21) vs. Arkansas State

Kansas State (-25) vs. North Texas

Texas (-26) vs. FAU

Kansas (-37) vs. Florida International

Oklahoma (No line) vs. Chattanooga

Texas Tech (No line) vs. Eastern Washington

Anybody see any good bets?

I'd take OU over Chatty Cathy at No Line.
That does mean the same as Pick-'Em, doesn't it?
;)

The Baylor line is too low. Wake is one of the faves to win the ACC.
Take OSU straight up. Wazzu is awful, and Seattle is not Wazzu territory.
Take Smellsofbouron with the points against UTerus. FAU was a decent team last year (the only Florida team to win its bowl game).

Agreed, those are the best bets.

About that UTerus-Smellsofbourbon game, FAU has a good, veteran QB who is a good passer. With UTerus's questionable secondary, that game could get interesting.

Usually yes...But in this case, they probably will not offer any betting in Vegas on the OU game. Basically a lock for OU to win.

And of the games listed....

Baylor (+6) vs. Wake Forest

Saturday Aug. 30

Oklahoma State (-6) vs. Washington State at Seattle

Missouri (-7 1/2) vs. Illinois at St. Louis

Colorado (-12) vs. Colorado State at Denver

Nebraska (-14) vs. Western Michigan

Texas A&M (-21) vs. Arkansas State

Kansas State (-25) vs. North Texas

Texas (-26) vs. FAU

Kansas (-37) vs. Florida International

The teams in bold, betting against the spread.

The Bugeaters by ONLY 14 points? At Home? Over Western Michigan? Nebbish rolls.

Oh... Akie St. and 21 against a brand, spanking new aggy offensive line.. a new offensive system ? Give me Arkie State.

Okay, when betting on games 'n whatnot, if the line changes after you bet, does that affect your bet?

Needless to say, I know basically nothing about sports wagering :)

That Nebraska line looks like easy money.

Give me Washington State and the 6 points at home against Oklahoma State. Early season game. OK State will be rusty ... which levels the playing field. Not to mention, traveling up to Seattle is disruptive to a young team.

As for the CU/CSU game - this has all the makings of an old fashioned beat-down. The lambs have a new coach, a new QB, and completely re-tooled offensive and defensive lines. The only thing that keeps CSU even close is the emotion of playing their big brother. CU has an O-Line that averages something like 6'6" 310 across the board, has experience at QB, WR and TE. CU also has a very solid D-Line, LB's and Safeties.

If I were betting, I'd stay away from the game. CU should easily win the game by 20+ points, but CSU has an annoying way of sticking around in games where they're completely out-classed.

I was thinking Florida International + points might be a decent bet.

Then I looked them up.

People taking FAU over Taxez?

You do realize this is DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL!!!1111!!! IT'S TEH BIG !!!!111

This "pretty good team" lost to OSU among their many accomplishments. I'm pretty sure I'm not touching this one. Why? Because there's a good reason :mack: is favored. There's also a chance that :mack:'s annual John Blake impersonation happens in opening week.
