Mine is a tick over two miles. When I move next month, it will be a tick over two miles, but almost all freeway. My general goal for the time being is to stay as close to work as possible so I don't waste time in traffic. I'm just curious as to how typical this is.

2.7 miles if I go the short route; 3.6 if I go the way that avoids some of the lights and all of the left turns. Takes about 8-10 minutes... longer route being a little less time. For me, it's about an ideal distance. I used to live on the same block as my office and it was just too close - not enough of a physical and mental break between leaving the office and getting to my place.

16 miles.

I drive past Crown Heights every day and I pout because I see big, beautiful vintage homes that I would love to buy but I can't afford. If I was able to move to Crown Heights my commute would be 2 or 3 miles.

I live about 2.5 miles from work, right in the middle of downtown Bangkok. By car or skytrain it would take about 30-40 minutes. By bike, it takes only 15 minutes and that additional 30 minutes added to my day is worth donning a rain suit for six months of the year and risking my life for 12 months of the year.

The bike is why I can't afford, no scratch that, no health insurance company will give me coverage.

Mine's 30 minutes at 75 mph.

mine's more like 7.5 :D

i've made it in around 5 minutes in the Subaru though

the route i take in my car is pretty well under 3 miles, but the one on my bike is sometimes about 3.5 one way

this is a big reason why i'm still under 53k on my 5 year old car, even after driving all over the Big 12 for 4 years, including the last Fiesta Bowl

10 minute walk, about 4 minutes on days I ride my bike.
I can also walk to the grocery store in about 10 minutes.

A tank of gas lasts me a long, long time.

No doubt. I never had more than a 20 minute commute before my firm sent me to work in Topeka for six months last year. Those extra two hours in the car every day made even more surly than usual.
