In my endeavor to separate myself from my guzzling truck, i have been in search of a car that will satisfy that need, and still be pleasing to the eyeballs. I have dwindled them to my final 3: G6, Accord, Civic. i noticed that both a 07 and 08 G6 are within my acceptable price range. I wonder if there are any G6 owners over here that could give me some inside info?

Always go with the rice burner. I like the front end styling on the accord, the back end? Meh

the jazzier versions of the Civic, to me, are more aesthetically pleasing. The G6 does look nice. I was driving behind one the other day and noticed it was the "suped up" version. The tires were really narrow for a car with any power. I just though that was weird. They looked more narrow than my car's tires.
I got nothing.

Buy used.

There are plenty of those used in the Rental Car business.

Depreciation will be a bitch on the G6.

We drove a G6 in Oahu, when we visited. Loved the little car, has a nice sized trunk, and of course, did very well on gas. We're looking into the G6 or the Sentra soon.

I rented a G6 GT for a couple of weeks. Got crappy gas mileage (< 20). I wasn't terribly fond of it either - ponderous handling for a 'GT'. The non-GTs with the 4-cylinder would probably feel a bit less ponderous without all that extra weight on the nose. If you're open to a smaller car like the Civic, also look into trying to find a G5 or Cobalt XFE.

i think ill wait until the insurance companies out there stop seeing me as such a liability first. that and when my salary doubles from where it is now, ill be happy to afford the price of the car payment which would probably double as well.

the G6 is the only smaller, sportier, "gas friendly" american car that i am interested in right now. if i have to go smaller, im inclined to head the Civic route. i hear rumors that the G6 is a 20+ car.. like 25mpg. but if it istn even a consistent 20, i wont even consider it.

Well, I'm sure the 4-cylinder gets in the mid-20s; I had the 240-hp GT and I have a bit of a lead foot.

I had an '05 4 cylinder Accord for a year. It's a great car, well made, will run forever, and averaged about 28 mpg. But after driving trucks for so many years, we just never felt safe in it.

I drove a G6 in Edmonton and it was a nice car, but I will take my Honda Civic over it any day of the week. Hondas >>>>>>>>>>>>> GM. (PS, my Civic was built in the US too!)

my '06 v6 accord does just fine on gas mileage. i get 24+ and i drive with a led foot.

i like the new front ends on the '08, should have personally just gone with the '08 coupe but was had to say no to the price on the used one

I'd go with the Accord, not the Aussie (Holden - I think) product. You can't beat 250,000+ miles mainly incident free and 17 years of Honda engineering and experience. In fact, I am looking for a new car and I am having a hard time not going for the Accord, only because I am looking at an Acura Rl or a Lexus, becuase I want some damn luxury. Honda is almost there, but just not quite on the luxury side...But you can't beat their price.

The G6 isn't a Holden. Only the G8 is. The G6 is on the GM Epsilon platform that the SAAB 9-3, Malibu, and Aura ride on.

Sorry, thought the G6 was a Holden as well. GM is importing from Aussie a lot, though they do turn out some fine vehicles. The Caprice is being exported to the Middle East, not a bad looking vehicle. Heard it may be the next Impala here...

im leaning towards 06 07 accord or civic. they lie within my price range, mileage, and feature desires. i think I'll buy in late october or november.
