Which island? We visited there back in April. Gas then was a little over $4, so I'm guessing it will be $5 there now. They'll have a blast there. It's so laid back.

Unusual to bring in Haole's to do work as the job market there is as dry as aggy championships...your boy's must have a trade that makes them spesh. Otherwise, the locals are pretty serious about keeping the jobs for Kama'aina.

I think your plan of them leaving the kids with Grandpaw is sound. The schools really succ in Hawai'i. Especially for white boys.

Maui is more laid back than Oahu, especially the Honolulu area. When we go back, we're spending most of our time on Maui. Absolutely loved it there!

Their island experience will all depend on where they will be working. Frankly, most of Maui is like a srsly windy desert. If they work on the west coast, it is nice, or even Kihei to the south...but if they are in town (Kahului/Wailuku) they are about an hour drive from what most mainlanders think of when they think of Maui...beaches and blue water. Otherwise, pineapple fields and red dirt.

It's the other 40 hours of hard work I do at Home that makes the other 40 at work seem so bad.
