for those of you who have them, how much do you pay per year, who do you use, what kind of coverage, and is it better to insure your car and cycle with the same company? that is if you don't mind me asking.
any info will help. TIA

I have full coverage with Progressive. I'm still stunned that I was able to get collision and comprehensive on a Vespa. Costs me around $250/yr., if I remember right.

I don't own a personal car (I drive a company-owned vehicle), so I couldn't plug my scooter in with car insurance. They (insurers) are also surprisingly reluctant to give motorcycle insurance to someone who doesn't own a car, FWIW.

Just talked to My son
A 13K Bike Full coverage thru Progresive costs him less than 400 a year.

I've got 2 cars with liability only and a motorcycle with full coverage and it's $97 per month with Liberty Mutual.

The motorcycle portion of that was $31 per month.

Usually, yes. Not always, but certainly the vast majority of the time. Most carriers will give a multi-line discount.

GEICO is making a big push for motorcycle insurance right now.

I need to check out some new company's. I think my insurance (suzuki c50t) is about $550 a year. I loaded up on non-insured after a friend of mine got hit by a un-insured driver. He almost lost his leg ended up paying some out of his own pocket.

Also Allstate would NOT let me add the bike in with my cars. Said they had to run bikes on their own policy,so no discount from Allstate. I have the house, 3 cars and a camper with them. Bike is by its self.

Ive got liability only on a 99 honda shadow 750. It was $171 for the year, averages out to $14 a month. It will be lower when I take the safety course. Im through progressive, but they did make me get a second policy for it instead of adding on to my car policy.

I use a broker that pretty much specializes in scooter insurance. I have my 07 Victory Jackpot fully covered at about $200 per year.

Or may I say...That's a Steel. :D

One of the guys at work has a Victory and it's smokin'

Those are pretty sweet.

It looks a little like this one.

Orange isn't my favorite color though. :(

A friend of mine who sells insurance said GEICO, Progressive, and State Farm have the best rates. It's normal to have a separate policy.

My BIL pays for mine. He uses State Farm and pays $200/yr.

I use Statefarm and mine is just under $300/yr full coverage w/ UM. They wont insure just a motorcycle though. You have to have a car insured w/ them also.

I lied. I USED to have Progressive, now I have Geico. Progressive offered me liability only, if I remember right. And the post above is right about State Farm only offering motorcycle insurance to people who have cars insured with them. They have my property insurance and insure my company vehicles, but wouldn't do a motorcycle without a personal car being on the policy too.

We have full coverage on a 2001 Harley through Progressive...it is $205.00/year.

We have our other automobiles through a different company.

My Harley is a 2004 and I'm at $372.00 per year.

I might have to look around.

Kimberly....

Is that in Oklahoma and full coverage/collision?

That's what I figured I'd be paying if I'd bought new.

Progressive was always good to me. Now, we have the house, cars, and bike all through Farm Bureau.

Yes, it's here, and yes, it's full coverage $500 ded on both - it started out at $300.00+ when we first got the bike, but it has actually gone DOWN, imagine that :D ! We have had the bike 4 years now

This is a pic of her just after I got it back from the shop this spring. I had a 45 degree rake kit put on and the sissy bar. I cut off about 2.5 inches off the sissy bar now and have a few more chrome pieces on it.

And I have since warshed it ;)

Dayum, that's a sweet ride, SC.

I pay about US$5 for liability insurance, but it includes passengers. It's mandatory and set my law. Insurance companies hate it, but they have to accept every applicant. I doubt I could get full coverage.

And, you guys probably pay more for insurance in a year than I paid for my piddly little 175cc bike.
