...or is it just the off season; but in my years here I have never seen so few participants...I know a lot of bans occurred but some of those people were good for a diverse board...are we headed to extinction...for example go check OU Insiders any night and the participation is much more active and diverse...concerned poster...Soonerus...

Nope, not that I can tell. I'd say it's the offseason causing the slowdown. We are in the peak vacation, family reunion, and travel time of year right now.

I think since lurkers can't get to some forums, including the SO, new members may not see what all SF has to offer though.

I hope not, I like SF way more than OU Insider, the personalities may not be as plentiful over here right now, but they are much more entertaining

I like SF better than OU Insiders too but I have noticed a disturbing trend, check on any given night the number of new posts in the last hour on the two boards...OU Insiders is much more active..SF kind of slow...

This is how the offseason goes. LAST summer was weird, as there was way MORE activity than usual. I'd say last summer was the exception to the trend.

I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt but I am afraid too many "players" have be run off...I don't even know who they all are but SAS comes to mind...before I get a mod/admin retort I know they must have stepped over the line but "perma" geez...

Seems to me The board traffic has always slowed down in the Summer.
If I remember right Rus you didnt post much in the Off season a few yrs ago .
And I do My best to Keep it Lively here:D

They left the board in droves years ago, due to the influx of d*uchebaggery in the recent years. Speaking of...

I haven't liked some of your (excessive!) threads, but this is a valid one. It does seem less active here than offseasons past.

I think that much like donations and attendance, it fluxes based on Sooner success, so another title run will bring out the boarders.

I definitely don't think Berry Tramel has scared them all away with his soapbox ;)

It's summer, so you have to give people a little time to get the Boomer Sooner chants started on here, but come August, I expect more activity.

Insert "it's the high gas prices keeping people away" economy explanation ;)

I blame gas prices on the slow down.

Many folks can't pay these huge subscription prices which ultimate will affect the amount of fuel it takes for Dean to keep the generator running that keeps the server running...

If things don't change soon...we may be needing to change to wind power.

Also...some folks may be leaving because of Berry Tramel's threats. ;)

ASk me again in a month but just off the top of my head I'd say probably so. The one real negative that I can see with SF is the way that new posters are treated. I can honestly say that on the 6-7 boards that I frequent on a regular basis, nowhere else do newbies get treated as poorly as they do on SF.

Usually when you're new to a board the mod or owner welcomes you and thanks you for your support. I have never seen that here.

Just my opinion.

Several very active posters were perma banned or left because they were being treated like crap. Several others are posting elsewhere more and here less. I don't care what anyone says about it being offseason and stuff, it is drastically slower, at least with decent topics.

I think a lot of folks just got tired of the arrogant, holier than thou replies, retorts, and posts of a few of the posters. A good analogy could be found in the book "Animal Farm" by George Orwell.

So, they just don't post as often, or abandon just abandon the place.

Good for them, and I mean that in the nicest, sincerest way possible.

If somebody is not happy here, they should absolutely go somewhere else. There truth is there just no point staying someplace that makes you miserable. It's not good for you and your misery is a poison to everybody else.

I can't believe this question was even asked.

If you don't like the threads, start your own (of course newbies excluded).

Concerning the newbies, there are enough general interest treads for the newbies to build their post counts and win respect.

On the other hand, I could bake some cookies for all of the newbies visiting the board and Olevet could probably be counted on serving some of his special OVJ.

I think it's because folks get banned to quickly...

The old meltdowns were a thing of beauty sometimes and now not only do folks get banned....the threads get locked or disappear. The ones of us that are left after the fallout aren't able to continue on and give our analysis as to when and why things turned south. :D

A buddy of Mines old lady goes thru a 1.75 Bottle aweek Of Black Jack . Ive had him save me the Bottles . I clean em out and then fill em with OVJ.:D

Actually, it's more like "you're in charge of the message board and you accomodate the smartasses, but they continue to push the envelope because they think they have you in their pocket until you have no choice but to ban them, somehow making them martyrs".

I push people's buttons, but you're confusing "I don't like that guy" with "he always breaks the rules".
